Omond Research Station is an Area in Zenless Zone Zero.
Overview
Omond Research Station is the primary area where players can access the Enigma of the Labyrinth gamemode and its associated activities. Speaking to D. Ata at the front desk opens the interface for all elements relating to Enigma of the Labyrinth, while going upstairs leads to the Depot Hub, Boojee's Store, Smart Workshop and R&D Center.
The Research Station is unlocked after progressing to the story commission (Operation Bagel) Bangboo Lost.
History
The research station was created during the era of Eridu's founding, when Joyous and "Sunbringer" were still active. The two Void Hunters worked together with Omond Flint and an unknown individual named Deryn Ata, establishing the station to monitor the Papago Hollow. Due to being created primarily out of porcelloy technology, the station causes Ether within the Hollow to bend around the station in a manner that resembles a bagel, which led to the operation being named Operation Bagel. It is also the place where the Labyrinth Carrot was created, which allowed Joyous to navigate Papago without the use of the Rosetta Data.
At some point in the past, the station, at the time manned by D. Ata and various Bangboo such as Collectie, Boojee and Boorave was cut off from the outside world. In order to preserve its integrity and everyone inside for as long as possible, the facility eventually dormant along with its mechanical inhabitants, some of who focused on scavenging parts from the outside Hollow. At some point before the lockdown, Boojee convinced everyone at the facility to abandon the use of Dennies as a currency in favour of Gear Coins, in order to have total control over the now limited economy of the station.
After many years, rumors began to circulate that the Labyrinth Carrot could be found within the Divine Maze, which prompted Shepherd to contact Phaethon, giving them a commission to find the carrot for an unspecified client.[1] As they investigated the area and found a fragment of the carrot, which Eous then claimed, they were stopped by Nanson of HAND and Ray Yersin of the White Star Institute, who pressed them to hand it over, as they too were hoping to retrieve it. During the discussion, the group were attacked by an Ulidim which abducted Eous as they flew through a Fissure. The fissure brought the group to the station, where D. Ata promptly brought the group up to speed with the situation. Following this, Nanson was able to leave the Hollow, and worked to bring in outside help from HAND and the HIA.[2]
As the group worked to find Eous and the Labyrinth Carrot, they also helped to restore the research station back to its original functions, discovering some formerlly sealed archives revealing some of the history about the location. After the carrot was retrieved, it fused in to the Central Hub of the station.

NPC Interactions
- (Talk to Brooding Engineer)
- Brooding Engineer: The situation in this Hollow... hard to say, real hard to say.
- Confident Clerk: Is there anything HAND can't handle? You worry too much!
- Brooding Engineer: Uh... alright. Being confident is great and all, but you do realize the Hollow has Joyous's name written all over it — that first-generation Void Hunter, Joyous?
- Confident Clerk: What? Joyous? I didn't see that in the mission brief!
- Brooding Engineer: You didn't know that? How did you even get into HAND? What, do I have to slap it on the cover in the biggest, boldest font possible and then blast it on repeat over the loudspeakers at HAND Headquarters just to get it through to you?
- (Talk to Brooding Investigator)
- Brooding Investigator: Shouldn't a Hollow on this scale be handled by someone more... qualified? Are we actually going to be useful here? What about the military? What about HAND?
- Easy-Going Investigator: Yeah, heard about that. HAND already sent someone in to run a preliminary hazard assessment and handle the infrastructure support — we're actually cleaning up what's left.
- Easy-Going Investigator: Besides, Hollow scale and all that... just let it go in one ear and out the other.
- Easy-Going Investigator: I mean, the Ballet Twins Hollow had street vendors selling grilled sausages right outside it, and there were Senior Investigators in there hollering for Public Security backup!
- Brooding Investigator: ...You peeked at my help log? Ballet Twins is seriously haunted! For real!
- Easy-Going Investigator: Whoa whoa whoa, easy now... Easy! Let's deal with what's in front of us first, yeah?
- (Talk to Excited Employee)
- Optimistic Engineer: Huh? Things are actually looking a bit better than expected.
- Excited Employee: For real?! Oh my, Joyous must be blessing us right now...
- Optimistic Engineer: Hey, I'm the one who got you protective gear, and I'm the one supplying the maintenance resources— so how does that turn into "Joyous bless us"?
- Excited Employee: R–Right, yeah. So, uh... thanks for the blessing, workmate bro?
- Optimistic Engineer: ...Whatever. Go round up the HIA crew later — got some things I need to run by them.
- Excited Employee: Sure thing, workmate! Consider it done, bro!
- (Talk to Cheerful Investigator)
- Cautious Investigatior: The missions for this phase should be just about wrapped up, yeah?
- Cheerful Investigator: That's right, that's right! To be exact, we've just got a few more spots to check out — then we're done for the day!
- Cautious Investigatior: Time to tally up the commission fees, special service bounties, equipment allowances, vacation pay, high Ether concentration hazard compensation...
- Cheerful Investigator: And a pretty impressive résumé~ After all, this was a Hollow that even Joyous almost couldn't handle. Not bad for us, huh!
- Cautious Investigatior: Yeah. But — watch yourself when it comes down to the wire!
