"Joyous" is a mentioned NPC from the Eridu Era and was one of the first seven people to be awarded the title of "Void Hunter."[1]

"Joyous" was the Ace of the Investigation Guild and the predecessor to both Investigators and Proxies alike. Information about him is locked behind the Inter-Knot's Deep Database's File 0-3092-5800-A6.[1]
Joyous had a sense of humor, as he named Hollow navigational data "Carrots" after the fact that Bangboo resemble rabbits.[2] He drank frequently and was said to be a drunkard;[3] Arche once kicked him out of a party for drinking all night until the next morning.[4] He was a rare Proxy capable of in-Hollow combat. According to Remielle, he was the complete opposite of Phaethon: always convinced he could handle anything, yet the moment a fight began, he would be the first one knocked down.[5]
History
One of Joyous's greatest achievements was navigating the Papago Hollow, also known as the "Divine Maze," all on his own. He was the first to leave a Hollow using his own calculated path, setting the standard for exploration routes. When Joyous escaped the Hollow, his only companion was a borrowed Bangboo: a prototype created by "Sunbringer" herself. The first Carrot was stored in the Bangboo.[1][6]
He was the core technology provider for the invention of Rosetta Data, though he took a nap during the experiment and was only awakened by the other Void Hunters celebrating its success.[4] He was also present alongside Sunbringer and Omond Flint for one of the early meetings of "Operation Bagel" in Omond Research Station.[7]
It is unknown what later became of him, and Remielle assumes he has likely been dead for a long time.[4]
