Stepanyan (Russian: Степанян Stepanyan) is an open-world NPC in Glupov, Everfrozen Earth, Snezhnaya. He first appeared in the event Trials of the Brave Warrior under the name Onyx Agate.

Profile

Stepanyan is highly-regarded member of the 1st Grenadier Guards of Snezhnaya and the 3rd Company, which was once assigned to guard the Kuuvahki Experimental Design Bureau in Nod-Krai. When the Traveler first met him during the Trials of the Brave Warrior event, he was a poruchik, or junior officer. He has received many accolades for his performance in combat and is considered the star student of Major Valeriy, whom he deeply respects.

While in Nod-Krai, Stepanyan was under the command of Sandrone, the Seventh of the Fatui Harbingers. Although he never received direct orders from her, he admires her B.O.S.C.O. Landcruisers and strives to become a similarly steadfast, reliable war machine.

During the events of Special Operation, Stepanyan fought in the battle to defend the Design Bureau against Rerir and the Wild Hunt. His confirmed kills totaled 61, and while his weapon was shattered and his legs broken, he managed to crawl to his forces' rallying point and ultimately survived. Not long afterwards, he narrowly escaped death again during the events of Tracing the Footsteps of the Past, when he was trapped by an energy field created by Dottore, the Second Harbinger. He was still hospitalized around the time of Descending Moon, when he learned, to his horror, that Dottore had destroyed Sandrone's body, leaving only her mechanical core intact.

After his recovery, he was placed back under the command of Major Valeriy, signaling the end of his tour in Nod-Krai and an imminent return to Snezhnaya. Before leaving Nod-Krai, he had an opportunity to enter the Technical Martial Challenge, where he placed as a finalist alongside Diminished Seventh Arpeggio and Gaumaru. Like his fellow finalists, he dueled the Traveler, after which the player could choose to award him the championship title.

Sometime after the Trials of the Brave Warrior event, Stepanyan was promoted to company commander.

Stepanyan is courteous and even-tempered with a strong respect for authority, partly due to the influence of Major Valeriy. He prefers to resolve conflicts through discussion but enjoys a challenge, telling the Traveler: "You can beat me up until I end up on all fours, and that would suit me just fine."

Appearance

In the open world, he takes the appearance of a standard Oprichniki Fireblade Shock Trooper.

However, in the Trials of the Brave Warrior Event's promotional material, challenge selection, and the battle with Onyx Agate, he used the Battle-Hardened Fireblade Shock Trooper's inverted color scheme instead.

• Nelson Stepanyan (Russian: Нельсон Степанян Nel'son Stepanyan; Armenian: Նելսոն Ստեփանյան Nelson Step’anyan) was an Armenian Il-2 pilot and regimental commander in the Soviet Air Force who was twice awarded with the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union.
• Onyx is a type of agate, a stone known for its parallel bands of color. It is a relatively hard material that has been associated with stability, protection, and courage in battle.
