Versions are updates that add or alter existing content in Honkai: Star Rail through its live service game model.
Versions are designated using a sequence-based identifier which reflects change significance. Version numbers follow the format of significant updates (new regions) incrementing the leftmost number, and less significant updates (new story content, areas, and bug fixes) incrementing the rightmost number.

Version Length
The standard length for a release Version is exactly 6 weeks (42 days), but there have been exceptions, often due to extenuating circumstances. These include:
- Version 1.4 — 5 weeks (35 days)
- Version 1.6 — 6 weeks (41 days)
- Version 2.0 — 7 weeks (50 days)
- Version 2.4 — 6 weeks (41 days)
- Version 2.5 — 6 weeks (43 days)
- Version 3.8 — 8 weeks (58 days)
- Version 4.0 — 6 weeks (40 days)
- Version 4.1 — 4 weeks (28 days)
- Version 4.2 — 6 weeks (40 days)
- Version 4.3 — 6 weeks (44 days)
- Version 4.5 — 5 weeks (33 days)
Maintenance
Maintenance for each Version update is usually scheduled to last five hours, but may conclude sooner. Maintenance compensation is 
Stellar Jade ×300 for Trailblazers at or above Trailblaze Level 4 before the start of maintenance.
Prior to the scheduled maintenance time, a scrolling banner will appear at the top of the screen which states:
- The game server will be down for maintenance at YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM (UTC local time). Trailblazers, please plan your game progress accordingly. See the official notice for details.
