Eggie

Eggie, also known by her real name Ninnin,^[1] is a quest-exclusive NPC who appears in the World Quest Series Moon Gazing and accompanies the Traveler and Paimon on their journey to the Frost Moon.

Profile

Eggie is an artificial, data-based lifeform that takes the form of a black kuuhenki. She was born as part of Project Moongazer from the gathered data of the Moongazers, a group of dragon researchers on the Frost Moon.^[6]

Eggie can absorb power and information recorded in Terminals throughout the Frost Moon,^[7] allowing her to read facility records and access blueprints.^[1] She also instinctively merged with others of her own kind to regain her strength.^[8]

Appearance

Eggie resembles a standard kuuhenki, but is black rather than blue or red. Her unusual coloration appears to be connected to her birth, though the exact cause is not explicitly stated.

After absorbing the information inside Ungie during Visitors From the Stars (Part 2), Eggie gains a hat and a ribbon around her left ear.

Story

Eggie was created as part of Project Moongazer, a project established by the Moongazers on the Frost Moon. Its purpose was to continue transmitting the message once carried by the Stellar Blackbody back into space. To ensure the message would continue to be broadcast even after the researchers' deaths, their data was merged into the sea at the moon's core. Using the power of creation borrowed from the Moon Goddesses, this data would eventually be reborn as data-based lifeforms that could transmit the message again and again.^[6][9]

This way, Eggie was eventually born from this data as a black kuuhenki and appears to have inherited the nickname "Ninnin" from Nin-Kiggia, the final inheritor of Project Moongazer.^[6]

Sometime before the present day, Columbina discovered a weak and unconscious Eggie in Maagees's Greenhouse. She attempted to heal her with kuuvahki, but Eggie only began to awaken after subconsciously merging with others of her own kind. Concerned by this behavior, Columbina brought her to Silvermoon Hall and lent Eggie power so the Frostmoon Scions would not worry if they found a black kuuhenki in Columbina's absence.^[8]

Present

At the beginning of the World Quest Series Moon Gazing, the Traveler and Paimon encounter what appears to be Columbina at Dunanna Pit and follow her to Dunanna Forward Station. They soon realize that it is actually Eggie, who has assumed Columbina's appearance while pursuing an unknown mission.^[10] The group travels to the Frost Moon and arrives at the Eye of Ibni-Belum, where Eggie interacts with a Terminal and remembers that her name is Ninnin. After the group repairs the Eye's energy supply, Eggie accesses a hidden module and learns about Ibni-Belum, the first Moongazer.^[1]

The group later travels to Ungien's Circle, where Eggie follows other black kuuhenki into the facility and helps the Traveler access its Terminals. She retrieves blueprints and records explaining that the complex consists of the Ungien Biosphere and the Space Lifeform Capture Station, both connected to another Moongazer, Ungien. After repairing the facility's power system, the group reaches the Space Lifeform Capture Station and reunites with the real Columbina, who reveals that the Moontide Sea was recently cast into turmoil because of a "Mega Kuuhenki" named Ungie.^[8]

While pursuing Ungie in the Moontide Sea, Eggie senses information inside him and deduces that they are of the same kind. She discovers that his body contains more information from Ungien's Circle alongside details regarding Project Moongazer, and realizes that this is what drew her there. Despite Paimon's concerns, Columbina allows Eggie to absorb the information, stating that Ninnin was born on the moon and has returned to her homeland for the sake of her mission.^[8]

Columbina suggests that they search the Dark Side of the Moon for more information on Project Moongazer. After the group finds records in Lusalim's Laboratory pointing to the moon's core, the Traveler and Columbina proceed there and encounter Nin-Kiggia's Mark. It explains that Eggie was created from the Moongazers' data as the newest executor of Project Moongazer. It further reveals that her mission is to open the Moongazer module inside the Eye of Ibni-Belum and transmit the Stellar Blackbody's message into the universe once more.^[6]

The Traveler and Columbina receive the key to the module and reunite with Eggie. After returning to the Eye of Ibni-Belum, Eggie opens the Moongazer module and transmits the message. Once her mission is complete, her energy is depleted and she returns to the cycle of life.^[6]
