Lan
Last updated 2026-09-07
Lan (Chinese: 岚姐 Lán-jiě), full name Huo Lanling (Chinese: 霍岚岭 Huò Lánlǐng), is an open-world NPC in Liyue Harbor. She is the Branch Master of the Adventurers' Guild in Liyue and can be found standing next to Katheryne's reception area.
Lan is briefly spoken to during the Archon Quest Three Poignant Perfumes in Chapter I: Act II - Farewell, Archaic Lord. Her dialogue changes slightly after completing it.
Following a certain dialogue branch for the first time gives the player seven Adventurer's Experience. This branch is only made available after starting the World Quest ...What Do Adventurers Do Again?.

Profile
Lan is a former mercenary and the younger sister of Huo Zhaohui, a renowned martial artist and weaponsmith who wielded a sword known as the Unseen Razor. As a child, she had her brother promise her that should he replace the Unseen Razor that it would go to her, and she secretly etched a mark onto the hilt. After he went missing in the Shadow Realm alongside Talalikhin's uncle, his sword mysteriously disappeared.[4] In her search for it as an adult, she did mercenary guard work, protecting merchants and their goods on the road, and was acquainted with Huangshan, another mercenary. They fought at least once, likely as a test of each other's martial skills, which Lan won.[5]
Lan eventually moved on to join the Adventurers' Guild to take advantage of their information network and took on any commission that involved swords, as she was not well-read but could recognize the word "sword." Eight commissions into her new career, she took an S-Rank commission solo that involved fighting a Stonehide Lawachurl near Qingxu Pool. Despite sustaining grievous injuries during the fight, such as fractures and severe blood loss, Lan was able to kill the lawachurl, but could not find the sword. This would earn her the moniker "Swordseeker of Qingxu". Shortly afterwards, she completed another S-Rank commission on her own. With her feats included in the periodical reports sent back to the guild's headquarters in Snezhnaya, headquarters decided to promote her to guild master for her (unintended) efforts. Due to her disinterest in the position, she leaves most of the Guild's affairs to Katheryne.[6]
Around the time of Mutual Aid in Bloom: Into the Frostlands, a rumor surfaced that Zhaohui's fame had made him feel restless, leading him to seek seclusion in the north of Teyvat and ultimately vanish in the frozen wilds of Snezhnaya. Soon after, Lan made an announcement stating that this story was exaggerated and requested that the public stop spreading it.[5]
Appearance
Lan has brown hair cut into a bob and wears the standard female Adventurers' Guild uniform. The uniform consists of three layers of clothing (a white short-sleeve dress with a front cut-off, a green cape collar with a ruffled trim and a triangular back flap, and a green panel skirt with slits and a red bow at the back), a short red neckerchief, brown socks and laced high leather boots. The Adventurers' Guild logo, an eight-pointed star, is printed on the right and back flaps of the collar.

Dialogue
Dialogue Set #1
- Lan: ...? Excuse me, adventurer. Please see Katheryne about anything Guild-related — I am not intimately acquainted with the workings of the Guild.
Who are you?
- Lan: If you're looking for the Master of the Liyue Adventurers' Guild, I regret to inform you that, that would be me.
- Lan: By which I mean, don't expect any help from me on Guild-related matters. I avoid involving myself in such bothersome affairs.
- Lan: That is, unless you bring news about the sword.
What sword?
- Lan: My older brother's sword. If I find it, I can finally give him a proper burial...
- Lan: It's the only fitting way to go for a martial artist like him.
- Lan: It's a flat blade, sharp enough to slice an airborne hair in two. It's named "Unseen Razor."
How did you become Master of the Liyue branch?
- Lan: Ugh, why does everyone ask me the same question... I will make an exception for you, though, and give you the full story.
- Lan: I used to be a mercenary. I joined the Adventurers' Guild so I could take advantage of their superior intelligence network and track down the sword.
- Lan: I may not be very literate but I can read the word "sword." So I just took on every single commission that had something to do with a sword.
- Lan: Then, just when I'd finished my eighth— Or was it my ninth commission? Anyway, I'd just finished it, and then word came from the headquarters in Snezhnaya that I'd apparently completed two S-rank commissions.
- Lan: ...And suddenly I found myself promoted to branch Guild Master. It was all very strange indeed.
...You're amazing.
- Lan: You think so? Well, I don't do it for any kind of praise or approval.
- Lan: But since I am branch master and all that, I guess I have to show I'm making an effort or something.
- Lan: I jotted down some thoughts on adventuring back when I was looking for the sword. Here, take them. Maybe you'll find them useful.
- (Obtain

Adventurer's Experience ×7)
I'll let you know if I find anything.
- Lan: Oh, thanks! I love meeting people like you who are up for everything.
- Lan: I am grateful to you, newcomer. It looks like it was worth me joining the Guild after all.
So, have you seen someone who looks like me?
- (This option disappears after ???)
- Lan: Like you? ...Oh, I see. You're looking for family.
- Lan: I haven't, no, but I will keep it in mind.
- Lan: I've been separated from family before. I know how you feel...
Goodbye.
- Lan: Aight, don't drag this out.
Dialogue Set #2
- Lan: It's been a while since I saw you last. For any Guild-related matters, please talk to Katheryne.
Adventure Challenge
- (Opens Genius Invokation TCG match interface)
- (If the player loses the match)
-
- Lan: It's naive of you to try to beat me with this trick.
- (If the player wins the match)
-
- Lan: I see that you're really good at cards...
Have we met?
- Lan: Huh? Don't tell me you've forgotten who I am? Luckily, I still remember you.
- Lan: I'm the Master of the Liyue Adventurers' Guild, although I tend to avoid involving myself in Guild-related matters and other such bothersome affairs.
- Lan: All that interests me is news about the sword.
The sword? What sword?- (Rest of the dialogue is the same as everything under "What sword?")
Goodbye.
- (Same as before)
Event Dialogue
Great Expeditionist Challenge
- Lan: We're counting on you to wrap this match up fast... But this challenge's a little different, so keep your guard up.
Then let's do this.
- Lan: Easy there. No need to go all out and bring the whole Domain down.
- (Opens Roly-Poly Domain Raid minigame interface)
- Lan: Easy there. No need to go all out and bring the whole Domain down.
What are you doing between matches?
- Lan: I'm treating Iris to a couple of drinks. She got me these sunglasses in Fontaine, so I owe her.
- Lan: ...Hey, don't give me that look.
- Lan: I'll be in Snezhnaya for a while, so I'd better get used to warming up with the local Fire-Water. I'm taking a quick break first.
- Lan: I should ask Iris for tips, too. She's been on Dragonspine for years. She probably knows enough about handling the cold to write a whole book series.
About commission and adventurer ranks...
- Lan: Hm? What brought this up?
I never really thought about commission ranks before.
I heard something about adventurer ranks this time.- Lan: No need to think too hard about it. It's just a rough way to describe what kind of commissions an adventurer can handle alone.
- Lan: I'm guessing you want to know where the commissions we usually give you fall, right?
- Lan: A hilichurl outpost raid is a good example. Adventurers call those "Increasing Danger," and they're usually treated as B-rank commissions.
- Lan: For that kind of job, the Guild recommends at least sixteen regular adventurers and warriors, with no fewer than six solid marksmen.
- Lan: The usual plan is to have six people keep any Mitachurls in the outpost busy, while four handle the regular hilichurls.
- Lan: The six marksmen take out the Hilichurl Crossbowmen on the towers first, then help wear down the Mitachurls. Once they're down, the whole party moves in to clear the camp.
- Lan: That can take three to five hours, so it's more about endurance than brute force.
- Lan: If possible, bring a cook with the party so everyone can recover after the fight and be ready if hilichurl reinforcements show up.
It doesn't seem that complicated to me...
I usually just go in and get it done...- Lan: Right, and that's why you shouldn't get too hung up on the rating. By today's standards, it's pretty broad.
- Lan: Iris's said the same thing before. A B-rank hilichurl camp in Dragonspine and a B-rank "Increasing Danger" commission in a normal area aren't really the same at all.
- Lan: We're suggesting that each rank should also have a difficulty score. For example, a B-rank would be 601 to 700 points. That way, adventurers can get a better idea of how hard a commission is before they take it.
- Lan: There'll be a meeting about it after the event ends, so you'll hear more then.
I've fought my way through enough by now. I'm not scared.
- Lan: Heh, fair enough. A fight on paper's still a fight. Go on, then. Let's see what you've got, all-rounder.
Available after completing Paimon's "Driyosh" Way of Solving Problems.
- Lan: Things are just about wrapped up at the Guild. Next, we'll be heading to... hmm, the icefield north of Svetloledovka.
I'd still like to go over that battle again...
- Lan: Sure. Let's give it another proper fight.
- (Opens Roly-Poly Domain Raid minigame interface)
- Lan: Sure. Let's give it another proper fight.
Do you have more work there?
- Lan: Nothing major. Talalikhin and I just need to check out a few... leads.
- Lan: You've helped me plenty already, so I won't trouble you with this one.
- Lan: With a local showing us around, it should be as easy as sightseeing.
Best wishes to you.
- Lan: Mm-hmm. I have a feeling fortune will favor us both.
