- 1.1, 1.2, etc. — Refers to the game's Version 1.1, 1.2,... update.
- 2 Piece, 4 Piece (2PC, 4PC) — Refers to the number of the same set of Drive Discs equipped by an Agent.
- 4-star — Refers to an A-Rank Agent.
- 50/50 — Refers to the 50% chance of getting a Limited S-Rank Agent.
- 5-star — Refers to an S-Rank Agent.
- [stat] / [stat] / [stat] — The list of main stats recommended to use on Drive Disc slots (in order from left to right) 4, 5, and 6. Slots 1, 2, and 3 are not included since their main stats are always fixed at Flat HP, ATK, and DEF.
A
- AA — Abbreviation for Additional Ability.
- Abilities — Another term for "Combat Skills."
- Additive — Refers to stats that add together instead of multiplying.
- Anom — Abbreviation for Anomaly.
- Anomaly Teams — Refers to a team that focuses on a certain Attribute Anomaly. For example, a Nekomata-Billy-Corin team is a Physical Anomaly Team.
- AOD — Abbreviation of Angels of Delusion.
- AoE — Abbreviation of "Area of Effect," a phrase commonly used in gaming that refers to abilities that cover a wide range.
B
- Banner — A select pool of Agents and W-Engines that can be acquired through Signal Search. Non-Standard Agents and W-Engines cannot be acquired unless their banner is currently active.
- Battle Pass (or BP) — Refers to New Eridu City Fund and its respective plans.
- Best in Slot (or BiS) — A W-Engine or Drive Disc set that is considered the best option to maximize an Agent's performance.
- Beta — Betas are versions of the game that are tested prior to release. Players need to sign up to participate in Beta Tests. These are also commonly referred to at CBTs (Closed Beta Tests). Read more at Beta.
- Boars — Refers to Luciana de Montefio's Guard Boars Grassy, Woody, and Bricky that are automatically summoned on-field during combat.
- Bosses — Abbreviation of "Boss Enemies," such as Lumberjack.
- Buff — A positive effect, or the ability that produces it.
- Buffer — A term referring to Agents with abilities that provide combat buffs, which are typically but not limited to Support Agents.
- Build — Refers to the Drive Discs and a W-Engine an Agent has equipped.
- Burst — Refers to dealing as much damage as possible while an enemy is Stunned. See also: Stun Window.
C
- C0, C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6 — Refers to how many Mindscape Cinemas an Agent has unlocked. The "C" stands for "Cinema." An alternative is M, as in M1, for "Mindscape."
- Carry — One or more team members who contribute significantly to the team. The most common types of carrying are through dealing the most damage or healing team members. In the theorycrafting community, "Carry" has a varying definition referring to specifically damage dealers. It can contextually mean a damage dealer that requires field time, Hypercarries, or simply just an Agent with a significant damage contribution.
- CBT — Abbreviation of "Closed Beta Test," referring to the beta tests of Zenless Zone Zero prior to its global release. Version 0.13, Version 0.2.0, and Version 0.3.0 were the three closed beta tests.
- CD — Abbreviation of "Cooldown" or "CRIT DMG," depending on the context.
- Chain Cancel — The act of manually canceling a Chain Attack prompt by pressing Tab ↹, scrolling the middle mouse button, or tapping outside of the prompted Agent's icon. This is typically done in order to Chain Attack more than once with the same Agent.
- Comp — Abbreviation of "Team Composition," which refers to a particular combination of Agents used in a team.
- Cost (or Cost system) — A system that measures team investment by tallying the number of limited S-Rank Agents, Mindscape Cinemas of said Agents, and limited S-Rank W-Engines, each being worth 1 cost. For example, a team consisting of M6 Nicole with W1 The Vault, M2 Anby with W1 Hellfire Gears, and M0 Nekomata with W5 Starlight Engine would be a 0-cost team due to having 0 limited S-Rank Agents and W-Engines while the same team but with Nicole's W-Engine replaced with Elegant Vanity and swapping Nekomata for M2 Zhu Yuan would make it a 4-cost team.
- CR (or CRate) — Abbreviation of "CRIT Rate."
- Crit Value (or CV) — A way of quantifying the amount of investment into total CRIT on an Agent or Drive Disc. .
D
- DA — Abbreviation of Deadly Assault.
- Dailies — Daily Errands. Some players also include the daily New Eridu City Fund missions when using this term.
- Dead Stat — A stat that is considered useless on a specific Agent due to not scaling with anything in their kit.
- Debuff — A negative effect, or the ability that produces it.
- Demo — Shortened form of Character Demo.
- Disc 1, Disc 2,... Disc 6 — Refers to what slot the Drive Disc can occupy.
- DMG — Abbreviation for "Damage."
- Dodge — Refers not only to Dodge but also to Evasive Assists.
- Downtime — The period of a cooldown during which a Combat Skill or other effect becomes inactive; compare with uptime. The term may also be used to refer to a server maintenance period, typically between version updates.
- Drip Marketing — The first teaser for an upcoming Agent's release, usually announced through social media.
- Dual carry (or Dual DPS) — A team archetype wherein two Agents deal the majority of the team's damage. For example, Seed and Orphie are the dual DPS in a team with Lucy. Compare with Hypercarry.
E
- E — Refers to Special Attacks or EX Special Attacks, named after the default key binding on PC.
- Element/Elem — Refers to Attribute.
- Elites — Abbreviation of "Elite Enemies," such as Dullahan.
- ER — Abbreviation of "Energy Regen."
- EX Specials — Shortened form for EX Special Attacks.
F
- FallBoo/FallBoos — Refers to events with the "Grand Marcel Adventure" gameplay. The term is derived from Fall Guys, a platformer battle royale game with similar mechanics, and Bangboo.
- Farming (or Grinding) — The act of completing repetitive tasks to accumulate a desired resource, such as Investigator Logs.
- Field Time — Refers to the amount of time necessary for an Agent to be active.
- Flat Stat (Flat HP/ATK/DEF) — Drive Disc substats with numerical values instead of percentages.
- Flex — Shortened form of Flexible, often refers to slots in certain teams that have multiple viable Agent options. Can also refer to sharing an impressive feat such as a showcase of luck, high amount of investment on an Agent, or skillful gameplay.
- Fossil — Shortened form of Precious Fossilized Core.
- Free to Play (or F2P) — Refers to players who do not spend real money on the game.
G
- Guarantee — Certainty of obtaining the Rate Up Agent in Signal Searches due to having lost the 50/50 before.
H
- H0 (sometimes also HZ) — Abbreviation for Hollow Zero.
- H.A.N.D. — Shortened form for the Hollow Affairs & Neutralization Department faction.
- H.S.O.S.6 — Shortened form for the Hollow Special Operations Section 6 faction.
- Hard Pity — The phenomenon of having a guaranteed 5-Star on the 90th Signal of a Signal Search.
- Haru — Abbreviation for (Asaba) Harumasa.
- Healer — A term referring to Agents with abilities that recover HP, such as Astra Yao with her Ultimate: "Fantasian Sonata".
- Health — Term for HP.
- Hitbox — The area that, when an attack successfully crosses, deals damage to enemies and/or players as well as applies status effects.
- Hitlag — Additional frozen frames added to a Agent's attack animation when melee attacks hit an enemy or object. The Agent is momentarily paused for a few frames, depending on the type of enemy or object, to give the player the impression of weight behind their attacks.
- HoYoLAB — The official forum for HoYoverse games. Read more at HoYoLAB.
- HP Drain — Refers to skills that continually reduce HP, such as Komano Manato's enhanced Basic Attack or Yidhari Murphy's charged Basic Attack.
- Hypercarry — A team archetype that focuses on using teammates to help a single Agent, known as the Hypercarry, deal the overwhelming majority of the team's damage. For example, Soldier 11, the Hypercarry, in a team with Lucy (increases the team's ATK) and Nicole (reduces enemies' DEF). Compare with dual carry. See also: Wheelchair
- HYV — Abbreviation of HoYoverse, the subsidiary of miHoYo.
I
- IKL — Abbreviation for Inter-Knot Level.
- IKP — Abbreviation for Inter-Knot Post.
- Infinite Drill — Refers to the player being able continuously use M1 Anton's Enthusiastic Drills (Burst Mode) due to missing his first two hits, which will result in the energy bar not going down.
- Internal Cooldown (or ICD) — The hidden cooldown duration of an Attribute Anomaly or Disorder before it can be re-inflicted on an enemy.
- Invincibility Frame (also iFrame or I-Frame) — A brief moment of invulnerability caused by certain animations. In Zenless Zone Zero, this typically refers to Vital View triggered by successful Evasive Assists, or the invulnerability provided during the activation of EX Special Attacks and Ultimates.
- Invulnerability Phase — A period of time during which an enemy is invulnerable to all attacks.
J
- JFF — Abbreviation for Ju Fufu.
K
- Kit — Refers to an Agent's collective Combat Skills.
L
- Low to Play (or L2P) — Refers to players who spend a small amount of money on the game, usually on Inter-Knot Membership, New Eridu City Fund Growth/Premium Plan, and sometimes on Signal Searches.
- Lyc — Abbreviation for Von Lycaon.
M
- M0, M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6 — Refers to how many Mindscape Cinemas an Agent has unlocked. The "M" stands for "Mindscape." An alternative is C, as in C1, for "Cinema."
- Main — The Agent that the player primarily plays with. As a verb, it refers to the player actively choosing which Agent to use.
- Main DPS — The Agent that deals the most DMG in the team.
- Mats — Abbreviation of "Materials."
- Max/Maxxing/Maxxed Out — The act of fully leveling an Agent, their Combat Skills, and their Core Skills.
- MC — Abbreviation of "Main Character," which in Zenless Zone Zero is either Wise or Belle.
- Meme build — The building and use of an Agent that is considered contrary to their intended or generally accepted usage. Examples include Piper built with Crit Rate and DMG instead of Anomaly Mastery and Anomaly Proficiency, or Soukaku used as the main damage dealer instead of a buffer.
- Metagame (or Meta) — The strategic aspect of a game that transcends the boundaries of conventional gameplay. In Zenless Zone Zero, the meta involves decisions intended to make combat gameplay more efficient, such as selecting Agents preferred for their higher damage outputs, or using certain team compositions of Agents with good synergy.
- MHY — Abbreviation of miHoYo, the developers of Zenless Zone Zero.
- Mono-(attribute) — Refers to a team composed entirely of Agents with the same Attribute.
- Mono Ice — Refers to a team composed of Hoshimi Miyabi, Von Lycaon and Soukaku. See also Yuzu Ice.
- Mono Phys — Refers to a team composed of Alice Thymefield, Jane Doe and Ukinami Yuzuha.
- Moveset — Refers collectively to an Agent's Combat Skills.
- Multiplicative Refers to stats that multiply together instead of adding.
N
- Nagi — Abbreviation for Tsukishiro Yanagi.
- Neko — Abbreviation for Nekomiya Mana.
- Nerf — An Agent, W-Engine, or Drive Disc set having its effectiveness at a task reduced due to a change from the developers.
- NPCs — Non-Player Characters (NPCs) are characters that cannot be controlled by the player. Read more at NPCs.
- Nuke — Refers to dealing a large amount of damage in a short time, especially in one hit.
O
- O1, O2, O3, O4, O5 (or Overclocks) — How many times a W-Engine has been Overclocked. An alternative is P, as in P1, for "Phase" or W, as in W1, for "W-Engine."
- Off-field DPS — Refers to Agents that deal damage while off-field.
- Overcap — The state of Battery Charge exceeding its natural recharge limit. Also refers to exceeding 100% of the CRIT Rate stat.
P
- P1, P2, P3, P4, P5 (or Phases) — The Phase level of a W-Engine. An alternative is O, as in O1, for "Overclock" or W, as in W1, for "W-Engine."
- Parry — Refers to Defensive Assists.
- Pay to Play (or P2P) — Refers to players who spend a lot of money on the game, such as getting multiple Mindscape Cinemas for Agents and overclocking their Exclusive W-Engines, buying bundles in Monochrome Market, and spending Polychromes to replenish Battery Charge.
- Pay to Win (or P2W) — The idea of a game where the player can only achieve significant success by spending money. Typically used derogatorily to comment on a game's monetization system(s).
- PEN — Abbreviation for Penetration.
- Pity — The amount of Signals needed to guarantee an A-Rank or an S-Rank. See soft pity and hard pity.
- Polychromes/Poly — A type of currency unit in Zenless Zone Zero. Read more at Polychromes.
- Powercreep — The phenomenon of new Agents, W-Engines, Drive Disc sets, Enemies, or other features with increased effects being introduced and making pre-existing features weaker in comparison.
- Proc/Proccing — Refers to the activation of a certain Anomaly during combat, or the activation of conditional effects of an Agent, W-Engine, or Drive Disc.
- Pulls — Refers to the amount of Signal Searches a person has. It is also known as "Rolls."
- Pulling — The act of using Signal Searches on a banner.
- PYH — Abbreviation of Pan Yinhu.
Q
- Q — Refers to Ultimates, named after the default key binding on PC.
- QoL — Abbreviation of "Quality of Life." Refers to improvements to the player's experience in terms of convenience, comfort, and accessibility, with little-to-no significant impact on regular gameplay difficulty or an Agent's combat performance.
- QY — Abbreviation for Qingyi.
R
- Rerun — When a limited Agent's banner returns after their initial release.
- RES — Refers to Attribute RES.
- Rotation — Refers to the order of Agent ability usage in a certain team.
S
- S0 — Abbreviation of Soldier 0 - Anby.
- S11 — Abbreviation of Soldier 11.
- SAnby/Sanby — Abbreviation of Soldier 0 - Anby.
- SBilly/Sbilly — Abbreviation of Starlight - Billy Kid.
- SD — Abbreviation of Shiyu Defense.
- Server reset — A specific server time which marks the beginning of a new day, refreshing most of the timed content such as daily login bonuses, daily Errands, and events.
- Set — Shortened form of Drive Disc set.
- Shielder — A term referring to Agents with abilities that create Shields, such as Ben Bigger with his EX Special Attack: Cashflow Counter.
- Shiyu 1, 2, 3,... 7 — Refers to a specific Node (i.e. stage) of Shiyu Defense. It is further abbreviated as S, as in, S9 for Shiyu Defense Stage 9.
- Shockstar — Shortened form of Shockstar Disco.
- Shred — The act of decreasing Enemy Attribute RES or DEF through an Agent's abilities.
- Signature/Sig — Refers to an Agent's Exclusive W-Engine.
- Silly — Abbreviation of Starlight - Billy Kid.
- SKK — Abbreviation for Soukaku.
- Skin — Refers to Agent Outfits.
- Slot 1, Slot 2, Slot 3... — Refers to the Drive Disc slots for the Agents.
- SoC — Abbreviation of Sons of Calydon.
- Soft Pity — A theory that suggests an increased drop rate before reaching the guaranteed "hard" pity for a S-Rank, starting at around 75 Signals of a Signal Search.
- SSR — Refers to an S-Rank Agent.
- Stack — The adding of multiple instances of one effect at the same time.
- Stagger — Interrupting an enemy's move with an Agent's attack.
- Stat Stick — A W-Engine that is equipped on an Agent for the stats it provides, but provides little to no other effect. For example, equipping Steel Cushion on Ellen Joe for its CRIT Rate rather than utilizing its passive effect.
- Stun — The act of accumulating maximum Daze on an enemy, causing it to be Stunned. Not to be confused with the Stun Specialty.
- Stun Window (or Stun Duration) — Refers to the period of time in which an enemy is Stunned, with the goal of dealing as much damage as possible during this time.
- Sub DPS — A generic term that tends to refer to Agents in the team that deal a significant amount of damage but aren't the main DPS.
- Substat (or Subs) — The secondary stat(s) of a Drive Disc.
- Summit — Shortened form of King of the Summit.
T
- Teaser — Shortened form of Character Teaser.
- Time-gated — Refers to content or features that only become available after set intervals of time. Examples include Virtual Battle Events, which have stages that are unlocked each new real-time day.
- Tower — Shortened form of Endless Tower.
- TV Mode — A community-established term that refers to the Monitor Array found in Commissions or Events that primarily use the HDD's Hollow layout. This is also sometimes referred to as the "Chessboard" or "Gameboard."
U
- Ult — Abbreviation of Ultimate.
- Uptime — The period of a cooldown during which a Combat Skill or other effect remains active; compare with downtime. "100% uptime" refers to the maximal, prolonged use of a Skill due to reduced cooldown (decreasing downtime) or an innate cooldown being equal to or shorter than the effect duration.
V
- VA — Abbreviation of Voice Actor.
- Version — Major updates that add or alter existing content in Zenless Zone Zero. Read more at Version.
- VHK — Abbreviation of Victoria Housekeeping Co..
- Vivi — Abbreviation for Vivian Banshee.
W
- W1, W2, W3, W4, W5 — How many times a W-Engine has been Overclocked. An alternative is P for "Phase" or O for "Overclock."
- Web Event — Events that do not take place within the game, and are accessed through a web browser. Read more at Web Event.
- Wengines — Alternative term to W-Engines.
- Wheelchair — A team core consisting of two buffers, typically Support Agents, that can increase a DPS's performance regardless of their specific gameplay mechanics. The term comes from the team's ability to "carry" different Agents. Some examples are Nicole and Astra, or Orphie and Lighter. See also: Hypercarry.
- Woodpecker — Shortened form of Woodpecker Electro.

- Yeshun — Abbreviation for Ye Shunguang.
- Yuzu — Abbreviation for Ukinami Yuzuha.
- Yuzu Ice — Refers to a team composed of Hoshimi Miyabi, Soukaku and Ukinami Yuzuha. See also Mono Ice.
- YSG — Abbreviation for Ye Shunguang.
- YX — Abbreviation for Yixuan.
Z
- Zenkov — Enigma of the Labyrinth. The name comes from internal file names referring to the game mode as "Zenkov." Likely a portmanteau of "Zenless" and Escape from Tarkov, a combat-scavenging game with similar mechanics.
- ZY — Abbreviation for Zhu Yuan.
