Klee/Storyline
Last updated 2026-07-13
Klee is a young girl and the daughter of the Hexenzirkel mage Alice and the “Seeker” Kleiner. She is a member of the Knights of Favonius and is also known as the Spark Knight. She takes after her mother, often in destructive ways, much to the dismay of the Knights she has been entrusted to.
Profile
Personality
Klee is an energetic and outgoing girl who takes after her mother, Alice. She has a particular talent for creating explosives and is not fazed by the sound of explosions. She adores anything that can blow up like her bombs, such as Amber's Baron Bunny. She acts like a typical energetic young child who loves playing with her friends. Unfortunately, her definition of playing usually involves explosives; she is particularly fond of "fish blasting", tossing bombs into lakes full of fish.
In part due to her young age, Klee can be very naïve at times and easily confused by topics she doesn't have any context for, such as mistaking Mondstadt's wine industry for a monster,[7], wondering why Diluc is always grumpy, even going as far as to call him the "weird grown-up," and suggesting they blow up a wall to avoid scrubbing some graffiti they couldn't erase, much to Prune's horror. Klee is not fond of seeing people argue, as she believes that they only come when someone was in the wrong and that it doesn't feel right to her.[8]
While she's considered an official member of the Knights of Favonius, Klee's antics often get her into trouble. Like any child, she often tries to flee to avoid being reprimanded, but is eventually caught by Jean who sends her to solitary confinement to self-reflect. While she occasionally does try to do so, she almost always quickly forgets and instead uses the time to brainstorm new bombs and explosives.
Klee loves her fellow knights, and is well-loved by them in turn. She is particularly fond of Kaeya and Albedo. Whenever she heads out of the city to play, she always follows the "survival rules" which Kaeya gave her. Albedo, on the other hand, is an older brother figure who takes care of her. She is also quite fond of Diona, even catching fish to share and offering her Dodoco to pet when Klee unintentionally upsets her. She loves her parents, though she does not see them frequently as they often travel around Teyvat and thus have little time to spend with her.
Appearance
Klee uses the short female model. She has pale skin, light red eyes, pale blonde hair with a prominent cowlick, and elf ears.[Note 1] When first meeting Alice the Traveler has the option to comment how similar mother and daughter are.
History
Past
Klee was born to Alice and Kleiner, who are both renowned adventurers of Teyvat. She would spend a good amount of time with them until Alice left her in Mondstadt, entrusting her to the Knights of Favonius. Klee, understanding that her parents were incredibly busy, would mostly behave on her part. Prior to her departure, Alice taught Klee how to make and maintain Dodoco[9], who saw it as her "oldest and bestest" friend.[10] Alice also gave Klee a box containing Barbeloth's journal, which she kept buried in Windrise.[11]
While in the Knights' custody, Klee was given the title of "Spark Knight." She gained an obsession with making Dodoco-themed bombs known as Jumpy Dumpty and would frequently use these to blow up various items, particularly fish in an activity called "fish blasting." Before she left on her adventures, Kaeya gave Klee a pamphlet with several rules; to never use the bombs in the city, avoid harming people and not bomb Mondstadt.[12][13] As such, Klee would use her bombs outside the city, and would almost always be caught by Jean, who would put her in "solitary confinement"—grounding her by sending her to her room. Despite this, Klee would use the time to brainstorm more bombs and simply do what she did best after being released, much to Jean's exasperation.
At some point, she acquired a Pyro Vision while working on a bomb by herself.[14]
Nonetheless, Klee was universally beloved by the Knights, befriending just about everyone who interacted with her. When Rhinedottir sent Albedo to Mondstadt so he could continue finishing her test, Klee immediately bonded with him. Alice told them to treat each other as if they were family, and as such, she saw him as an older brother.[15]
She had placed a large amount of explosives in order to stop a hilichurl attack, but had placed too much that they changed the entire landscape. This was witnessed by Six-Fingered José, and as a result of the battle, the legend of the "Red Knight of the Stormbearer Mountains" was born.[16][17]
Since Klee did not have basic training skills due to her young age, Varka decided to do so after Jean and Albedo brought the matter up to him. Believing she should have some input, Varka asked her too. According to him, she "happily" brought bombs to the training grounds, resulting in an incident in which the three agreed to indefinitely postpone the test until she got older.[18]
Present
Klee was active during the Stormterror events but did not partake in resolving it. The Traveler first meets her after the Stormterror incident, where their curiosity is piqued after overhearing several locals talk about who is Mondstadt's strongest. They asked Jean on the matter, but she declined to answer, and Klee bumped into them as they were leaving. Recognizing them as the Honorary Knight, Klee asks them to help her locate her missing bombs. They accompany her to the Whispering Woods, discovering a Pyro Abyss Mage that Jean warned them about. Klee, not knowing good and bad, calls the mage "Mr. Fluffball" and believes he was roleplaying as a bad guy. Chasing it to its stronghold, Mr. Fluffball tries to use the bomb on them, but it blows up in its face, killing it, leaving Klee anguished as she believed she had broken one of the survival rules; harming someone with her bombs.[19]
Returning to Jean to inform her of the incident, Jean apologizes to Klee for not telling her about the Abyss Order. Since she had eliminated the mage, Jean allows her to attend the next Ludi Harpastum, but having sensed that she was planning to go fish blasting, sends her to solitary confinement as punishment, which she resigns herself to.[20]
Shortly after these events, Barbeloth's apprentice, Mona, arrived in Mondstadt in order to reclaim her master's journal and challenge its guardian, Klee. When she arrived to face Klee, she realized that Alice had never taught her anything and as such, they could not have their match. Mona then asked Klee about the box, which Klee had buried in Windrise. In her haste, she dropped a journal, which Mona read while she and the Traveler went to recover the box. She then gave the box to Mona, who found nothing inside and asked where the original contents were. Klee then told her that the journal she had read was actually her master's. Mona began to panic upon learning this, and Klee, believing she was about to get in trouble, ran away.[21]
During the Traveler's first summer on Teyvat, Klee was given a letter by the Dodo-King which threatened to take Dodoco away if Klee was not worthy of being its companion. Not wanting her friend taken from her, Klee attempted to ask Jean for time off to go to the islands where Dodo-King was, but Jean initially refused out of concern for her safety. She relents when the Traveler and Barbara offer to accompany her, and they go to Venti, who summons Dvalin to bring them to the archipelago.[22] They ran into Albedo, Diluc, Kaeya and Razor soon afterwards and with their help, discover that Alice had brought them to the islands so Klee could enjoy a good summer with her friends.[23]
Following the removal of the Sakoku Decree, Yae Miko hosted an Irodori Festival in which Albedo was invited, who took Klee with him as a dependent. He told her several stories about the nation, which greatly excited her, though due to his duties on arrival, he could not spend time with her and she remained on Ritou. When the Traveler came to participate, Albedo asked if they would be willing to show her around, which they agreed to, much to her excitement. The Traveler cooked her some of the local cuisine and later went to Naganohara Fireworks to meet Yoimiya. Klee immediately bonded with the young woman due to their love of explosions, though to their dismay, they could not set off explosions during the festival. They then went to Aratani to make a story for Dodoco, but she declined, as they were behind schedule. Just as the situation seemed hopeless, Miko arrived and told them that they could do so under the condition that it would be printed in another book at half the intended size. Klee was grateful to Miko for her consideration before learning that the other book in question was Alice's travel guide, making her even happier.[24]
Klee was later put in solitary confinement once again (presumably for fish blasting) before being released for Weinlesefest. Since everyone was busy, she was playing by herself when she ran into Razor, who was looking for his mother. Klee decided to help him, though they were not successful and she later asked the Traveler to help him before going to play with Bennett.[25] She later ran into Diona and told her of the situation, who misunderstood it as Razor wanting to drink wine. The Traveler and Klee clarified the situation for her.[26]
During the Windblume Festival, Klee went on patrol with Amber, Eula and Noelle, though it was more of a casual conversation to pass time.[27] Alice sensed that her lantern at the floating island had been activated and decided to see what was going on; Klee was excited to hear her mother again.[28]
As another summer came in, Klee was reading in solitary confinement when a letter flew in through the window. Sent by Alice, she told her that a friend invited her to visit her; however, this friend was in Sumeru, which was too far for the Knights to send Klee on her own, though she was adamant in taking up the invitation. The Traveler and Kaeya agreed to accompany her for the trip. The letter also had "Magic Invites" that would instantly teleport to a spoken location. They decided to start at Gandharva Ville, though Klee mispronounced it as Grand Arbor Hill; fortunately, they arrived at their destination without issue. They ran into Amber, Eula and Collei, who told them that Tighnari was busy and would not be back for some time. Taking a look at the letter on his behalf, she discerned that the friend was somewhere in the desert. They teleported to the Desert of Hadramaveth and located the domain entrance.[29] The group finds the domain in disrepair, finding its owner, Idyia and also Kokomi. They fix the domain and Klee decides to take the Traveler with her on the Choo-Choo cart before bidding farewell to the Oceanid and returning to Mondstadt.[30]
Per the usual, upon returning to Mondstadt, Klee resumed fish blasting until she noticed different fish appearing. She informed Kaeya of her discovery, and they learned that fish from Sumeru had inexplicably appeared in Cider Lake. Since these foreign fish were not known in the area, they could potentially pose a threat to the nation's economy, so the Knights began to investigate them. Klee was told not to use her explosives to avoid messing with the data; as everyone was also busy, she was left with Lisa, who invented the Dodoco's Bomb-Tastic Adventure board game for her. The Traveler arrived and met both in the library when Paimon suggested to read books there, so Klee asked them to play the game with her.[31] After clearing the game over several days, Lisa told them that the Knights had eliminated the invasive species and found the merchant responsible for the incident, issuing her a fine. Lisa then gave Klee a storybook based on the board game, which Klee appreciated.[32] Klee later ran into the merchant crying on the side of the road and comforted her with plenty of snacks.
Klee accompanied Albedo to Simulanka where she played with the locals and Mini Durin for a short time before returning to Mondstadt.[33] Klee enjoyed spending time with Durin, who was later given a human form by Albedo and began to live in Mondstadt.[34] They would spend time fish blasting, which Durin initially confused as a way to train himself, resulting in both being sent to solitary confinement whenever they were caught. Mondstadt later hosted a Soulblazers' Snowbound Journey, in which Klee attended to play Windtrace with Yaoyao and Sayu. She was also delighted to see Yoimiya again and wanted to go fish blasting with her, but Jean forbade her from doing so as she did not want people to leave with a bad impression of the nation.[35]
Alice later paid a visit to Mondstadt to help Nicole prepare a memory bubble so that the Knights who had left for Nod-Krai could understand what had happened in their absence. Klee visited the Traveler while they were tending to a pop-up bar, serving her a Fairweather Frolic and later a modified version, which she named Dodoco's Duet. As the bubble was being formatted, Alice spent some time with Klee fish blasting at Starfell Lake. She later told her that the bubble was almost ready for her, but the following day, the bubble became tainted by the Abyss. Not wanting her daughter's time to be ruined, Alice provided some distractions for Klee to hold her off for the time being. She arrived just as the memory bubble was purified in an implosion. Jean later learned that the two had gone fish blasting from Amber and sentenced both the mother and daughter to solitary confinement. Inside, Alice gave drawings to Klee explaining that due to a bad person, Kleiner could not come, much to her anger, stating that they should "blow him up." Alice then told Klee that due to the Traveler's assistance, he was no longer a threat, prompting Klee to proclaim that the Honorary Knight was the best.[36]
Shortly after these events, Alice would bring a young girl named Prune to Mondstadt for Klee to befriend seeing that everyone else was busy, who did just that. They would spend time in drawing graffiti in Millhaven.
Trivia
- Klee has a special interaction in Millhaven with Prune after the player investigates their doodles in the area. For this interaction see: Millhaven: Open-World Dialogue.
- She was the first new character added after the launch of the game. Overall, she was the 22nd playable character introduced to the game.
- In her voice-lines regarding other characters barring Diluc, Klee considers them to be "the best" of her friends. While Albedo is not related to her by blood, she does not address him as such due to her mother asking them to treat each other as siblings.
- Her Troubles voice-line suggests that the typical explanation given to her before being put in solitary confinement is that she has been a "bad girl" and has to "reflect on her actions" during her punishment.
- While her Normal attack consists of throwing bombs, Klee seems to still use her catalyst to summon them.
- Just like her mother, Alice, Klee is blessed with a race of longevity. Both are speculated to be elves.
- Her backpack resembles an elementary schooler's Randoseru.
- Klee shares the same Chinese voice actress with Nahida.
- During the Honkai Impact 3rd × Genshin Impact crossover, Theresa received Klee's clothing as an outfit.
- Klee shares the same birthday as Kuki Shinobu, July 27.
- According to her Birthday Mail, Klee does not always limit her escapades to Mondstadt; one time she managed to travel all the way to the Minlin region of Liyue by herself and blew some scales off the Primo Geovishap while Master Jean was busy working.
- Klee was tapped by the Ministry of Civil Affairs in Liyue as a demolitions expert for their Chasm Exploration Team, and was to be accompanied by Kaeya as her guardian. However, she then carelessly blew up the stove at Good Hunter and was subsequently grounded (as was Kaeya, so it's possible he had an active hand in causing the mischief).

Etymlology
- "Klee" is German for "clover." Her constellation, Trifolium, is Latin for "clover".
- While clover typically has three leaves (the 'tri' in 'Trifolium'), all of the clover motifs seen on Klee's clothes and in her elemental effects have four leaves. Four-leaf clover is traditionally thought to bring good luck to the barer.
