More than 50,000 years ago, the humanity of the Previous Era had developed a highly advanced civilization. In order to fight the Herrschers, they studied fragments of Herrscher Cores to create the ultimate weapons for resisting the Honkai and protecting the future—the Divine Keys.

Summary
Chapter 04
The chapter opens in the grim aftermath of the Ninth Herrscher's attack, which destroyed the continent of Mu and decimated a sixth of the world's population.[1] Six months later, Fire MOTH detects the emergence of the Tenth Herrscher. This new threat proves to be unlike any before; it is not a single entity but a multitude of individuals. The first instance is a chef with the power of invisibility who attempts to assassinate Dr. MEI, only to be subdued by her bodyguard, Kevin Kaslana.
Dr. MEI discovers a weak, crystal on the captured Herrscher, noting its energy levels are far inferior to a true Herrscher Core despite sharing identical physical properties.[2] Over the next four months, 1000 such individuals appeared worldwide, spreading chaos. These beings are officially named the Herrscher of Domination but are referred to as the Herrscher of Legion by Fire MOTH members. Each individual possesses only a simple, fragmented version of a previous Herrscher's power and is significantly weaker than a true Herrscher. The situation becomes more alarming when Dr. MEI deduces they are a hive mind, capable of long-range communication, and that even high-ranking Fire MOTH members have been subverted.
To counter this new form of threat, Dr. MEI devises a plan where she intentionally leaks information about a new research project to lure the scattered Herrscher forces to a single location: the isolated island P-21. The weapon at the heart of this plan is the Unnumbered Key known as the Key of Blankness. It is revealed to be a battlesuit designed to embed a Herrscher Core directly into its user, allowing them to briefly connect to Imaginary Space and become a 'Herrscher' temporarily, thus overcoming the energy limitations of conventional Divine Keys.
The Herrscher of Legion takes the bait, sending a diversionary force to draw Kevin away while a larger group infiltrates the island. They find Dr. MEI waiting for them, already clad in the Key of Blankness. She activates the suit with the Core of Thunder, eliminating 320 enemies in 201 seconds before her body gives out.[3] 10 minutes later, she reactivates it with the Core of Wind, lasting only 65 seconds but destroying another 100.[4] As Kevin returns, a physically ruined Dr. MEI makes a final stand. She uses the suit to interface with the Core of Flame inside the Divine Key Judgement of Shamash, unleashing its full power for five seconds to annihilate the remaining enemies.[5]
The battle is won, but Dr. MEI suffered irreversible physical damage from the immense strain. The Fire MOTH Council forbids her from ever using the suit again and suspends the Key of Blankness project temporarily, as no other "suitable candidate" exists who can withstand its power.[6]
