Warm and upright, with a unique understanding and preference for gourmet food.
Kuchiba (Japanese: 朽葉) is an NPC on Planarcadia, located in Duomension City.
Profile
Kuchiba is a security officer in Planarcadia who works with the Department of Aberration Defense and the Interastral Peace Corporation.[1] She has worked with Ashveil in the past, as well as individuals such as Sorren.
History
Upon the arrival of the Astral Express to Planarcadia, Kuchbia was able to track them down after they were led astray by Sparkle. She introduced herself and her role to them before escorting them to Graphia Academy on request. Along with Ashveil, she was called in to investigat the murder of Lyndon Skott and the key members of Synwish Syndicate such as their boss Polwave and their second-in-command Caustide. While Ashveil suspected that the victims' autopsy implies that the killer is the infamous Herald of Death, Kuchiba informed him that the Herald of Death was executed five years ago.[3]
Kuchiba and Ashveil continued their investigation, with Kuchiba suspecting Fulwish, the director of the Research Society of Happy Smiles, due to her possible connection to the case. Ashveil noted that only a select few such as Security Bureau investigators, members of the Department of Aberration Defense, and those involved in the Herald of Death case could replicate the precise killing method. As Ashveil and Kuchiba attempted to infiltrate the Research Society of Happy Smiles to confront Fulwish, they were met by a crowd of people who have undergone "Happiness Surgery," all behaving strangely. When they finally confront Fulwish, she offered no satisfactory response to their accusations, and the duo ultimately leaves the gathering without answers.[4]

Dialogue
- (First interaction)
- Kuchiba: Greetings, guests from the Astral Express.
- Kuchiba: Excuse me, have you seen a pixel lightpaw running amok? About twice my height.
Didn't see it.- Kuchiba: To be precise, it was a giant cat pieced together from hundreds of wispae.
- Kuchiba: Victims report that "it" moves with surprising agility and has a particular fondness for chasing street dogs. Whenever anyone tries to get close enough to catch them, the wispae disassemble and scatter into every nook and cranny they can find. Even the woofae patrolling the area for the Department of Aberration Defense have become targets of their mischief.
Poor guard dogs. They have my sympathy. For a second.
Are wispae always this mischievous?- Kuchiba: Wispae are tiny wishes to begin with, so when a whole bunch of cat-chases-dog wishes pile up together, this is what you get.
- Kuchiba: During the event, the Moon of Elation amplifies the Wishpower it spreads to the mortal realm, and these disturbances caused by imagenae occur incessantly, so you'd better watch yourselves out there.
- Kuchiba: Sorry, I got carried away talking about work. What did you need?
- (Subsequent interactions)
- Kuchiba: Oh, it's you.
- Kuchiba: I'm on patrol duty around the plaza these days. Anything unusual to report?
I want to have a chat with you.
- Kuchiba: What's up? I'm on duty right now, so let's keep it quick.
What do you think of the Phantasmoon Games?
- Kuchiba: Remember one of the game rules? "Officials have no right to interfere with a Supplicant's actions during the Phantasmoon Games."
- Kuchiba: In this carnival held in the name of honoring the Aeon, both performers and spectators can revel to their heart's content. Societal laws and moral restraints get tossed aside.
- Kuchiba: During this period, public safety incidents spike dramatically: imagenae creating aberrations and turning frenzied, Supplicants, spectators and even passersby dying in accidents. And in the last round of games, something absolutely horrific went down...
- Kuchiba: I'll spare you the details. But no matter how uncontrollable it gets, the game goes on. That's the one constant rule in this land of Elation.
- Kuchiba: So there are bound to be all kinds of unpredictable situations ahead. As a member of the Department of Aberration Defense, all I can do is give it my all to keep everyone safe.
Are all your coworkers imagenae?
- Kuchiba: We're simply better at tapping into the unique advantages as an imagenae when it comes to supporting criminal investigations. So aside from woofae, you'll regularly see mechatrons, shadowcrocs, and other imagenae officers. They're all invaluable assets to the Department of Aberration Defense.
- Kuchiba: By the way, do you know about the imagenae security officers' special investigative methods?
What is it?
Is that something you can reveal?
- Kuchiba: It's fine, this isn't exactly classified info.
- Kuchiba: They have this incredibly efficient trait that allows them to switch freely between two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms, so they can slip in and out of the 2D space at will.
- Kuchiba: Our department has plenty of classic cases to boast about. Like the time a lightpaw security officer went undercover in the underground syndicate "Black Cat Cutthroats," posed as a faction member for ten years, and eventually gathered enough critical evidence to bring them to justice.
That's genius.
That's some serious patience right there.- Kuchiba: But nowadays, criminal activities by imagenae exploiting this trait aren't exactly rare, so keep your eyes peeled. Better safe than sorry.
Any recommended must-see spots in Planarcadia?
- Kuchiba: You've probably already been to famous hotspots like Dovebrook District, right? The place is incredibly radiant and scenic, perfect for photos. Hmm... let me think... I know culinary shops the best. Interested?
I want something yummy.
- Kuchiba: I recommend the Raw 'n' Roasted Fusion Diner. It's been at the top of Planarcadia's Must-Eat List for decades straight.
- Kuchiba: After work, I always grab a bowl of their signature spicy stir-fried salmon, paired with Seafeld City's specialty spicy duck heads... absolutely divine.
- Kuchiba: Word is the owner personally travels far and wide to source and sample the finest ingredients. Not only do the imagenae rave about how it fills them with "Wishpower," but I'm absolutely crazy about their medium-rare boneless steak.
I wanna go somewhere photogenic.
- Kuchiba: The rotating restaurant at the top of the TV tower is a popular spot for birthday celebrations and dates. Personally, I think the best dish is the frozen-skin lobster. The rest of the menu is pretty standard, but the restaurant's real draw is the close-up view of the Moon of Elation through the windows.
- Kuchiba: If you're lucky, you might even get to say hi to the thundercoil outside. He loves to drop by and "check in" on us humans when he's in high spirits. Though some guests complain he's too noisy. That guy just laughs way too much.
- Kuchiba: I'll whip up a guide for you some other time, an eat-as-you-explore route through Planarcadia. When it comes to scoping out the finest food, I'm honestly pretty confident in my skills.
Are you always this busy?
- Kuchiba: Truth is, I haven't had much free time lately... Thanks for the reminder. I really should start planning my after-work hours better. You know, unwind a little and find that work-life balance.
- Kuchiba: During the Phantasmoon Games, it's so rare to get a full day off... I really miss those days when I could just laze at home, water my plants, watch some food vlogs, and call it a day.
Got any food influencers to recommend?
- Kuchiba: You might be surprised, but I'd recommend Sparxie.
- Kuchiba: Objectively speaking, her eating streams are excellent. She may be tiny, but she eats everything with such gusto. Watching her brings pure happiness and really works up your appetite.
- Kuchiba: Come to think of it, I used to be somewhat of a Sparxie fan myself. Given all the trouble she's caused the Department of Aberration Defense lately, I definitely won't be... won't be watching her eating streams every day anymore.
Got any tips for nurturing plants?
- Kuchiba: Easy peasy! Just water and sunlight as usual. When you see the soil's bone dry, give it another good drink and some rays. But it's common to overindulge them from too much sunlight, so you have to keep an eye on them.
- Kuchiba: As long as you keep protecting and watching over it, you'll witness the flowers bloom as brilliantly as ever. That kind of raw, unstoppable vitality erupting outward, every petal stretching with all its might, like it's offering every ounce of energy into this world.
- Kuchiba: Every time I see that, I feel my heart blooming too.
I'll leave you to your work.
- Kuchiba: Don't mention it. If anything weird comes up, hit me up anytime.
No matter how busy you are, don't forget to eat!
- Kuchiba: Thanks for your concern. Next time I get a break, I'll take you all to explore some shops.
