The Eye of Graeae is a quest-exclusive NPC who first appears in the Archon Quest Into the Wind, Into the Frigid North in Chapter VII: Act I - Everwinter Without Mercy.
Profile
The Eye of Graeae is a creation of Aksinya and the Hvergelmir. It was divided into three segments at some point prior to the cataclysm to create the first "prototype human." Its goal was to bring humanity to "Tomorrow." Realizing that if allowed to fuse and obtain the authority the Primordial Human had, which was a threat to all humans and fae, it asked to be divided into three segments, persuading Koshchei, Pavlina and Alvis to stop Aksinya from finishing the experiment. It also realized that its full power would also indicate that the world would undergo an inexorable revolution. While the three did so for their own reasons, they stopped Aksinya from carrying out the experiment, throwing her into the Shadow Realm. The Eye of Graeae itself would later be left in an abandoned train, untouched during the cataclysm.
The Traveler would later discover the Eye of Graeae after they were separated from Paimon when an avalanche fell on them. They discovered an abandoned train and the abandoned Eye of Graeae, which powered up and acknowledged the Traveler as a Descender. Attempting to introduce its functions to them, Graeae quickly realized that it had lost many of its memories and that its power had been scattered across the tundra. Once the Traveler reunited with Paimon, they agreed to help Graeae restore its power, which it had sensed in three locations; the House of Hesperides, Flamefeather Valley and the Pale Crown Palace.[8]
Once the Traveler found and recovered the missing fragments, they returned to Pale Crown Palace, where Aksinya took the restored Graeae and uploaded his consciousness into the body of the Belyi Tsar. Now remembering everything, it found its current predicament ironic and asked the Traveler what they would do if their sibling became a completely different person. The Traveler responded that they would learn to love the person they became, and satisfied with their response, Graeae asked them to stop both itself and Aksinya. The Traveler was ultimately successful in doing so, and both tumbled into the depths of the Shadow Realm, where Graeae and Aksinya accepted each other. The device in the Traveler's possession still retained all of its functions but without its personality.[4]
