Raumhilda, nicknamed Hilda is a quest-exclusive NPC who appears in the World Quest Series A Long Day in the Mountains.
Profile
Raumhilda and her younger sister Zeitlind had a peaceful childhood with both parents present. While Zeitlind was more introverted, Raumhilda was outgoing and often read to her before she could read herself.[2][3] After the loss of their parents, their lives became more difficult, and both struggled with their personalities.[2] The sisters found comfort in books, imagining distant worlds and sharing a longing to explore Teyvat together.[4]
As they grew older, Raumhilda became engaged, but her fiancé, burdened by a hereditary illness, eventually left her. His departure devastated her, leading to her admission to the sanatorium in Windrest Peak.[2] During her stay, she wrote letters to Zeitlind to pass the time,[5] and in her final messages she mentioned that the sanatorium was about to close and that she would be going somewhere far away.[1]
Before the relocation of the sanatorium, she went for a walk at midnight and encountered Nihilita, who sent her to the Temple of Space.[4] There, she came to know many of its inhabitants and traveled across the numerous exhibition spaces: At Luyang Academy, Daozi and Bosch taught her how to draw, and she eventually produced a still life of watermelons in a basket which she signed and named "Long Live Life."[6] She also came to know Istoria, and discussed philosophy with him. At the Mahavaipulya Chamber, she chatted with Calcerius, Okikuni, and Yu Huangyi (who by then had already been pressed into paper slips).[7] And in the Desert Pavilion, she told Vitruvius about her epitaph and met the other inhabitants.[8]
She gradually became more upset as she spent time in the Temple, witnessing Melanta's madness and what had been done to the inhabitants. She ultimately decided to face Melanta herself. To build the path to the Atrium of Suchness and confront Melanta, Raumhilda had to give up all of her memories. Upon reaching Melanta, Raumhilda said that while they could never reach accord, her younger sister would eventually come one day and defeat Melanta. She left the Temple of Space after that and never returned.[4]
Her (empty) grave can be found at the cemetery at the Old Sanatorium Site. The epitaph reads, "One lifetime doesn't count."[6]
Appearance
Raumhilda is a fair-skinned young woman with long white hair and light purple eyes. Like her sister Zeitlind, her hair is brushed to her sides and braided at the back, with a bow holding it in place.
Her outfit is near-identical to her sister's. She wears small purple earrings, a white shirt with puffed upper sleeves and a dark blue collar, a dark brown waistcoat, white pants, and dark brown boots. Unlike her sister, she does not have a pale purple flower adorning her hair, nor does she wear a skirt.

- Raumhilda wrote one of the two ending volumes of Vera's Melancholy. Although it is not confirmed which one she wrote, it is likely Volume 12, as it mirrors her story with her fiancé.
- It is strongly implied that Zeitlind and Raumhilda both struggled with their mental health. Raumhilda was obviously devastated by her fiancé's departure[2] and pondered with Istoria "whether one should or shouldn't end it all tomorrow."[6] Zeitlind also believes that Raumhilda would not have chosen to continue living if she hadn't lost her memories.[9]
Etymology
- Raumhilda's name is a combination of the German word "Raum," meaning "space, room, chamber" and "Hilda," a feminine Germanic given namee derived from the name "Hild", formed from Old Norse "hildr," meaning "battle."
- In contrast, her sister Zeitlind's name derives from "Zeit" ("time"), suggesting a thematic parallel to Istaroth and Asmoday, the Shades of Time and Space. This is further reflected in their roles, as Raumhilda disappears while Zeitlind continues searching for her.
