House de L'Azur, or the de L'Azur family, is a prestigious noble family in Roscaelifer.
Overview
The de L'Azur family has a close connection to Lindverne Sunbringer, the head of the Airspace Patrol Department. The family's vow is to follow Lindverne for generations, though Lindverne herself dislikes the word "follow" and instead regards each de L'Azur as a comrade, friend, and mutual mentor-and-student. The bond between House de L'Azur and Lindverne can be seen as both blessing and curse: a curse for Lindverne, who outlives every de L'Azur and inevitably loses them, but a blessing for Sigrid and the other de L'Azurs, who will always have Lindverne for an entire lifetime.[1]
As a noble family, House de L'Azur takes the hosting courtesies and food quality of afternoon tea very seriously.[2] Sigrid is the eldest daughter[3] and therefore the heir apparent,[4] though she is not yet expected to handle all social responsibilities for the family as she is still young.
History
Each family head has served as Airspace Patrol's Deputy Administrative Director for five generations, going back to Sigrid's great-great-grandmother:[5] the first known de L'Azur, who was present at the creation of Roscaelifer.[6] She fought on the frontlines of the Hollows to defend Roscaelifer and became Lindverne's first deputy.[7] Though there were methods for de L'Azur to gain "eternal immortality" and remain deputy forever, she refused, choosing to pass away of natural causes.[8]

Etymology
- De L'Azur means "of the azure" in French. In-universe, this name is said to mean "Knight of the Skies."[9]
