Flint Family

The Flint family is a renowned family of smiths in Roscaelifer.

Overview

The Flint family are the founders and owners of Flint Workshop, one of the Five Central Departments of Roscaelifer. They are the world's sole producer of Flint Porcelloy. This is due to the fact that Porcelume—the main component of Porcelloy—has difficulties bonding with other metals, and requires Flint blood in order to catalyze a stable bond. Thus, only the Flint family has the facilities to forge Porcelloy, and it is considered a highly precious material.^[1]

There are many rumors and mysterious legends surrounding the family, especially pertaining to vampires.^{[citation needed]} The ballad Thorned Rose was written about these legends.^[2]

Claret Flint is the current head of the family. Due to her position, she holds a large amount of influence across Roscaelifer, though she never uses it for personal gain.^[3]

History

Long ago, the Flint family ancestors chose to settle in Roscaelifer. They made a pact with "Sunbringer" that in exchange for her protection and help with research,^[1] they would provide Porcelloy equipment and technology for the city. The family has honored this pact for generations, continuing to supply Roscaelifer with Porcelloy to this day.^[4]
