"Tales of a hundred demons. Endless mysteries await"
— Welcome to the Spook Shack!

The Spook Shack is a Faction in Zenless Zone Zero.

Unlike most other factions, Spook Shack is not an organized group or company. It is an Inter-Knot forum dedicated to sharing and solving supernatural mysteries and unexplained phenomena. The forum has no entry requirements, and most of its members are online friends who share common interests. Notably, Ukinami Yuzuha, a member of the forum herself, leads her own party of the Spook Shack in Waifei Peninsula, with Alice Thymefield noted as the newest forum member, who joins the faction by the end of the commission The Impending Crash of Waves in Phaethon's Story.

Inter-Knot Post The death of Bringer [Intel] The death of Bringer On a starry night, just beyond the Companion Hollow near Port Elpis...
After losing his Carrot, Inspector Bringer led his few remaining subordinates through countless failed attempts and detours before finally finding a way out.
Shaken and disheveled, the Public Security officers looked back — behind them, the relentless Ethereals still roared and clawed at the edge of the Hollow, desperately trying to tear through, but to no avail.
They embraced one another in relief, grateful to have survived.
But then...
A massive hand suddenly reached out from the Hollow—
In a single instant, sharp claws pierced straight through Bringer's chest!

So whose claws ended the life of the "Janus Quarter Commander Candidate"?
Were they from an Ethereal capable of crossing over... or a traitor disguised as one?
Or something even more terrifying?

What lies behind this tragedy — an Ether-woven nightmare, or the corruption of humanity consumed by ambition?

Inter-Knot Post Digging Deep Into Ancient Legends of Waifei Peninsula [Intel] Digging Deep Into Ancient Legends of Waifei Peninsula While Failume Heights Is Hot Yo, friends! Recently, Failume Heights has been back in the spotlight thanks to the rising exposure of our new Void Hunter, Ye Shunguang. Our archaeology squad at the Spook Shack, always chasing the latest buzz—I mean, pursuing historical truth—has dug up some ancient tales about the Waifei Peninsula.

You won't believe what we found! Today, let's talk about the legendary Yunkui Summit and the even more legendary Qingming Sword—how did they really come to be?

First up, let's talk about that mysterious Qingming Sword! About this blade, I've got a mind-blowing conclusion: Based on cross-referencing multiple damaged ancient texts, the Qingming Sword wasn't originally from Yunkui Summit at all. Legend has it that its prototype was some bizarre object of unknown material discovered near the Lemnian Hollow. But its true nature was terrifying—it actively drained the Ether from any human who touched it! According to the records, every ordinary person who tried to touch or study it couldn't handle the agony of having their Ether instantly drained, and ultimately... turned to ash. This caused massive panic at the time.

Next up is the establishment of Yunkui Summit. Just when the Qingming Sword was about to cause an even bigger disaster, a wandering master appeared. The ancient texts don't record his name, only that he possessed an extraordinary control over Ether Energy that no ordinary person could match. Using his own power, he forcefully suppressed this deadly artifact and calmed the chaos. But even he couldn't completely destroy it. After trying every method without finding a way to eliminate it, this master made a reluctant decision... On a remote mountain, using his lifetime of knowledge and some special techniques, he forcibly forged this deadly object into the form of a sword to contain and seal its power. This sword became what we know as the Qingming Sword. And that mountain became Yunkui Summit. Looking at it another way, while this master couldn't completely solve the problem, his teachings lived on. His philosophy of helping others and the profound cultivation methods he left behind—like the healing arts we can still see today, and those mysterious techniques for communicating with birds and beasts—made Yunkui Summit a respected power in the region for a long time.

Finally, the most mysterious and mystifying of all the collected legends has to be an ancient prophecy that came with the Qingming Sword. We found similar recordings of this prophecy in several different versions of ancient texts—it must be the one passed down through generations at Yunkui Summit! The prophecy has two parts: 1: "When darkness shrouds this land, all things wither, and songs of sorrow fall silent, only Bai Ze wielding the Qingming blade can break through the long night and awaken the dawn." 2: "The path of Bai Ze is never walked alone. When fate shifts, shadow follows light. Blessing and curse, joy and grief — one thought leads to heaven, the next... to the abyss." "Bai Ze" clearly refers to the savior who can wield the Qingming Sword—no doubt about that. But what exactly are the "shifts of fate"? With all this talk of "shadow follows" and "blessing and curse," doesn't it seem like the "shifts of fate" might be even more crucial than the "Bai Ze" itself?

We haven't reached any conclusions about this question yet. What do you all think? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!

Trivia

  • The Spook Shack's logo could be referencing the logo of the American comedy franchise Ghostbusters, consisting of a prohibition sign over a ghost-like creature.
  • Each of Spook Shack's members' motifs appears to be a reference to mythological creatures:
    • Yuzuha and Kamanosuke are a reference to Bake-danuki (Japanese: 化け狸 "The shape-shifting raccoon dog"), a type of yōkai known for their mischievous tendencies.
    • Through not mythological in sense, Alice might be inspired by the White Rabbit, a character from Alice in Wonderland, hence her name. However, her connection with the Thiren species may be inspired by the Moon rabbit, a mythological figure from East Asian and indigenous American folklore, who is portrayed as a companion of the Chinese moon goddess, Chang'e.
    • Manato is inspired by Komainu (Japanese: 狛犬 "The lion dog"), the Japanese guardian lion dogs for the Shinto Shrines, and Ara Mitama from Shinto.
    • Lucia might be inspired by Fauns.
    • Yidhari is inspired by Kraken and Cthulhu Mythos.
