The Thymefield Family is a notable family of scholars specializing in ether science.
Overview
The Thymefield family mainly consists of Rabbit Thirens, and most of them are renowned scholars in Ether science and technology, with relevant education starting from a young age. The Thymefield family also has a good reputation for their rectitude and their contributions in Ether science.
History
The Thymefield family held the patent for the anti-corruption medicine, which generated a good fortune for the family, allowing them to also maintain several family assets, such as libraries and museums.[1]
Lionel Thymefield was well-known both as an Ether scientist and as a surfer.[2]
While searching for a hairpin his daughter, Alice, lost during a visit to a Porcelumex research laboratory,[3] Lionel accidentally discovered that the facility was carrying human experiments, and tried to save the young child used as a test subject. Unfortunately, Lionel was discovered by Porcelumex and shot while helping her escape through a drainage route, succumbing to his gunshot wounds while getting as far as possible from the sewers so that they could not go after the child.[4] Porcelumex then concealed the truth behind Lionel's death by staging it to be a car accident followed by a fire, with his body burnt to hide the actual cause of death. Alice blamed herself for his father's death, as she was told the accident was likely caused by fatigue, and she believed he was too tired because she had forbidden him to come home until he had found the hairpin.[3]
Following Lionel's tragedy, Alice's mother also passed away, leaving Alice alone and making her grandfather have to take over the position of the family head again. At an unknown point, Alice's grandfather got ill and became bedridden, but still kept the patent to be able to maintain the family assets for when Alice would have been ready to manage the family.[1]
After the incident caused by The Exaltists, Damian Blackwood, went to the Thymefields as a representative of Porcelumex to convince Alice to take part to the Inspection Team, so that Porcelumex could take advantage of the Thymefield family's reputation, threatening her of accusing the family of making the anti-corruption medicine ineffective and claim for compensation if she refused.[5] When trying to rescue Yuzuha and capture Ferox before he could destroy all evidence of his crimes, the protagonist asked Damian to help access the reaserch facility inside the Lemnian Hollow. Seeing Damian's reluctance and knowing he would have only helped them for profit, Alice offered a condition: if Damian was willing to help, she would give the anti-corruption medicine patent to Porcelumex for free, which made Damian agree to help.[6] After Ferox's successful arrest, Alice, with her grandfather's blessing, opened the anti-corruption medicine patent to the public, honoring her promise to Damian while at the same time not making Porcelumex the actual owner.[1] Without their main source of income, the family will sell or donate the assets most expensive to maintain.[1]
