The Starry Night · HoYoDex

The Starry Night (unofficial name) is a Hidden Exploration Objective that takes place in the Pillar Hall Central Zone, Temple of Space.

Start Location

Start the quest by entering the tower at the starting location.

Steps

Investigate the tower
Defeat the enemies
- Wave 1:
  - Anemo Slime ×1
  - Electro Slime ×1
  - Hydro Slime ×1
  - Pyro Slime ×1
- Wave 2:
  - Xuanwen Beast ×2
- Unlocks Common Chest ×4
Open the chests
Use the Segment-Domain Keeper: Projectile Type to restore the frames
- Use Dex to move the two-level platforms
Float up inside the tower
- Unlocks Exquisite Chest ×2 and Luxurious Chest ×1

Dialogue

(Enter the tower): Paimon: Wow... There are so many paintings here...

(Approach the display board at the center of the tower)

(The screen glitches and the display board disappears)

Paimon: Huh!? It — it's gone...

(The surrounding frames link up and display a panorama of Mondstadt)
(Four slimes spawn)

Paimon: Whoa, be careful, (‍‍)!

(After defeating the slimes)

(The surrounding frames turn and link up again, displaying a panorama of Chenyu Vale)
(Two Xuanwen Beasts spawn)

(After defeating the enemies)

(The frames open up, and four chests appear)

(Open the first chest)

(The screen glitches and the nearby frame swaps its scenery)

Paimon: Huh? Did it just switch?...

(Open the other three chests)

(Each time, the screen glitches and a nearby frame swaps its scenery)

(After opening the fourth chest)

(The remaining frames float up the tower, and some of their contents disappear)

Paimon: Hmm... Maybe we could use that Keeper over there to fix it?

(After restoring all frames with the Segment-Domain Keeper)

(A portal appears on the bottom of the tower)

(Enter the portal)

(The player floats upwards past the frames of Mondstadt, Chenyu Vale, Sumeru, and Fontaine)
(A circular panel opens up, revealing a starry night painted across the domed ceiling)
(Three chests appear)

(Interact with the display board, optional): Deathly Silence: "Technically speaking, what he painted was not the starry sky."

Trivia

The area at the top of the tower is inspired by the famous painting The Starry Night by Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh that depicts the view from a window of his asylum room. The text shown when interacting with the display board also alludes to the painting's title.
- A similar environment is also seen in the Temple of the Star Latitudes Event Domain during The Ancient Azure Stars.
