Gameplay Notes

Dialogue

(Interact the final sword hilt with Varka as the active character before guiding the three wolves back, optional)‍[verification needed]
Varka: According to legend, when the Bloodstained Knight left the Knights of Favonius 500 years ago to embark on the path of demon hunting, some knights chose to follow him, leaving Mondstadt together with the champion they revered.
Varka: To this day, their names are still recorded in the archives of the Knights of Favonius, though what happened after their departure remains unknown.
Varka: Is it because of the unique influence of the Ley Lines here, or was their longing and willpower so intense that these voices still linger...?
Varka: Unless I'm mistaken, this must be their final destination.
Varka: Though they had left the Knights, they fought bloody battles to uphold the chivalry in their hearts, until all that was left was one lone wolf...
Varka: No one can fault you for your deeds. Every action you took was truly befitting your knightly titles.
Varka: But it seems that the Bloodstained Knight could not return from the end of his path. It's an ending full of sorrow.
Varka: No matter what, the Knights of Favonius won't forget you. Your deeds ought to be celebrated by the world, and your spirits should be returned to your homeland.
Varka: Heroic wolf, lead me to their bones.
(Read the Interactable at the ruins, optional)
Lost Notes (III)
Month: Unknown. Day: Unknown...
Abyssal monsters are everywhere, and the locals avoid us as if we carried a curse. Setting up camp near these ruins is not a long-term solution, I fear...
Lord Roland says nothing. He just wipes his blade in silence... Perhaps we really are too weak...
Thankfully, once they learned of our situation, the warriors who call themselves the Lightkeepers offered us their lighthouse as shelter. Their generosity is admirable...
(After reading the Interactable, if Wolf #3 has not been guided back)
(The camera pans towards a lighthouse in the distance)
Explore the area near the lighthouse

Wolf #1

(Approach the hilichurl camp)
Paimon: (‍Traveler‍), over there! It looks like something's fighting the monsters. Let's go take a look!
Distant Voice: Even after all this time, Abyssal creatures still roam this place. How tragic...
Distant Voice: I made the right choice in following Master Roland... It is only through his chivalry that more may be saved...
Distant Voice: Let the sword undo the sins of injustice...
(Defeat the enemies)
Paimon: Okay, the monsters are gone, but... Did you hear that strange sound just now?
(Touch the glowing spot)
(The phantom wolf runs towards the nearby ruins)
(If this is the first wolf helped by the player)
Paimon: Ah! It ran away! That way...
(Follow the wolf to the ruins)
(The phantom wolf disappears, a claw mark on the wall lights up)
Just another beast to be destroyed...

Wolf #2

(Approach the location)
Distant Voice: Of the fellows who departed with the knight who slayed demons, so few remain... Now even this little wolf is drawn into battle.
Distant Voice: Until the monsters are utterly vanquished, Master Roland will not stay his sword... We too will follow him to the last...
(Touch the glowing spot after melting the barrier)
(The phantom wolf runs towards the nearby ruins)
(If this is the first wolf helped by the player)
Paimon: Ah! It ran away! That way...
(Follow the wolf to the ruins)
(The phantom wolf disappears, a claw mark on the wall lights up)
The code of chivalry tolerates not such injustice...

Wolf #3

(Read the noticeboard at the lighthouse)
Ancient Noticeboard: "Wolves have been seen in this area at midnight. Travelers, be warned."
(Wait until 00:00)
Distant Voice: Awoo!
(A phantom wolf appears at the lighthouse)
(Read Interactable)
Lost Notes (IV)
Month: Unknown. Day: Unknown...
A brutal fight...
I refused the locals' aid and held this lighthouse alone. Now, I'm the only one left...
Ah, and this wolf... the one that came with us from Mondstadt...
Master went off, tracking the monsters. I cannot say if he will return...
But it doesn't matter now. Where he goes, I can't follow, drenched in blood as I am...
The end of this path of chivalry... Only he and these crows drawn by the scent of blood will see it.
I won't leave my body to them...
Well, wolf from my homeland... Consider sending me on my way your final duty.
(After reading the Interactable)
(The wolf runs away)
(If this is the first wolf helped by the player)
Paimon: Ah! It ran away! That way...
(Follow the wolf and read the next Interactable)
Lost Notes (II)
Month: Unknown. Day: Unknown...
We encountered another group of monster hunters. They called themselves the "Lightkeepers" and seemed to have come from the north...
These warriors, intent on restoring order to this land, invited us to join their cause. But Master Roland refused...
"Nothing will ever change unless this land is cleansed with blood." That's what the Master said...
And the targets of this purge are not limited to non-human monsters. He believes that bandits who seize the chance to pillage, and desperate outlaws with nowhere left to turn... All must be eradicated.
But can this world truly be saved through killing alone...?
(Follow the wolf and read the next Interactable)
Lost Notes (I)
Month: Unknown. Day: Unknown...
I thought our westward march would conclude in Natlan, but Master Roland shows no intention of ending his campaign...
Things differ in the northern snowfields. There, the new Cryo Archon has restored order within Snezhnograd. Here, the chaos inflicted by that calamity still reigns supreme...
Perhaps that's why Master Roland's behavior has become increasingly inscrutable since we arrived at Nod-Krai...
Sometimes, I can't even tell if we're fighting to save people from suffering or just for the sake of slaughter...
I'm sure Master would say that where chivalry is concerned, there is no difference between the two...
I never pondered this before we left Mondstadt. Perhaps Master Roland is right, and I simply do not understand yet...
(Follow the wolf to the ruins)
(The phantom wolf disappears, a claw mark on the wall lights up)
Press on... Uphold the knightly creed...

After following all wolves to the ruins

(All three wolves appear around the sword)
(Touch the sword hilt)
(A Moonlane appears, and the three wolves run off)
(While riding the Moonlane)
(The phantom wolves spawn along the Moonlane's path, howling and running alongside the player)
The knights who chose to follow me were lost to the injustices of fate...
For you who devoted yourselves to justice — and to the path of chivalry — this was not the ending you deserved...
Boreas, take care of them... For when I reach the end of my road, their souls will be redeemed...
Wolf... You too desire to stay... I understand. Remain — and keep watch over their rest...
Even if only I remain upon this path, so be it... I will press forward — until every shadow of evil and stain of sin is purged from this world!
(Touch the sword hilt)
(If Varka is not the active character)
(A phantom of a Radiant Glacial Wolf appears)
The wolf's phantom drifted away, perhaps because Boreas's presence could not be felt...
(If Varka is the active character)
(Same dialogue as earlier)
(If Varka is the active character and the player has completed Lonely Warrior)
Varka: According to legend, when the Bloodstained Knight left the Knights of Favonius 500 years ago to embark on the path of demon hunting, some knights chose to follow him, leaving Mondstadt together with the champion they revered.
Varka: To this day, their names are still recorded in the archives of the Knights of Favonius, though what happened after their departure remains unknown.
(A phantom of a Radiant Glacial Wolf appears)
Varka: Is it because of the unique influence of the Ley Lines here, or was their longing and willpower so intense that these voices still linger...?
Varka: No matter what, the people of Mondstadt won't forget these heroes.
(If the player has not completed Nameless Bloodstained Monument)
Varka: So rest, heroic wolf... I'll carry your story back to your homeland.
(The phantom wolf fades away)
(A Moonlane appears that leads the player to the starting location of Nameless Bloodstained Monument)
(If the player has completed Nameless Bloodstained Monument)
Varka: Don't worry — I've already found their grave. Their final wish has been entrusted to me.
Varka: Judging by your appearance, I can see you won't be returning home with me, but at least your long vigil is finally at an end.
Varka: So rest, heroic wolf... I'll carry your story back to your homeland.
(The phantom wolf fades away)
