Appearance

Evanescia is a tall woman with light purple eyes. Her chin-length, coral pink hair is styled into flared bangs and two longer front locks reaching her shoulders. She wears a pale pink cherry blossom hairpin on her left. A red bow with two layers of white-striped tails attached to another, thinner white bow fastens her hair into a loose loop bun peeking over her head. Her long, slender fox ears with darker pink inner sides feature mounted silver pieces.

Her outfit consists of a collared kimono-like top underneath a baggy, cropped white coat embellished by flowing gold patterns and cherry blossoms. Her right furisode sleeve displays a navy cuff with a black dash pattern and a red underlayer, while her left sleeve cuff is gold with a black strap above. Other adornments on the top half of her attire include a metallic flower brooch pinned to her right bicep, a red bow with uneven black-tipped tails sitting below her neck, and a choker made up of a black strap and pink rope. Her navy, pleated mid-thigh length skirt is secured by a black armor belt bearing a gold medallion and various pink rope pieces. It extends into long panels functioning as an open, petal overskirt. Similar in structure to her hairbow, a blue and black bow with a gold flower print is attached to a smaller white and pink bow at the back of her skirt. The front hangs a pale pink rabbit charm displaying a digital screen in place of its face.

Evanescia also wears asymmetrical gloves, both with gold accents and pink rope; the right one white with a black strap, and the left black one only reaching her palm with two exposed fingers and a white armor piece covering the rest of her hand. Her legs are covered by mesh tights, with a black flower-patterned strap on her upper left thigh. She dons a pair of calf-length, lace-up navy heeled boots with gold lining and red soles. The metallic collars are adorned by gold flowers, and large gold-tipped black bows are attached to the back of the boots.

Etymology

• The name "Evanescia" is likely derived from the Latin verb evanescere, meaning "to vanish" or "to fade away," a term often used to describe something fleeting. This draws a parallel with the Flame-Chaser Sakura and her Signet, "Setsuna" (Japanese: 刹那 "an instant; a moment"), which likewise describes something transient.
• Evanescia's Chinese name, 绯英 Fēiyīng, "Scarlet Flower," is a homonym of 绯樱 Fēiyīng, "Scarlet Sakura," which is the name of 绯樱篇 Fēiyīng Piān, "Scarlet Sakura Arc," a Houkai Gakuen 2 manhua which introduces Yae Sakura's backstory as a shrine maiden.
