Profile

Gallagher was a History Fictionologist infiltrator of the Bloodhound Family, working directly with the Watchmaker to undermine The Family's schemes within Penacony. He is physically known as a "Virtual Character",^[1] a lie created from information gathered from 52 Family members within Penacony.^[2] As a Pathstrider of Enigmata,^[3] Gallagher was capable of directly manipulating the Dreamscape, utilising his skills to create Dreamflux Reef,^[4] Something Unto Death,^[5] and Dr. Blues.^[6]

Following the reveal of his identity during the Trailblaze Mission The Public Enemy, due to Gallagher's status as a "Virtual Character", he ceased to exist.^[3][7]

Appearance

Gallagher appears as a tall and muscular middle-aged man with red eyes, shaggy brown hair and a visible stubble beard. He wears a dark grey dress shirt with a white vest over a turquoise vest. The dress shirt is slightly open in the front, with only one half tucked into his pants, and he has the right arm sleeve rolled up. His torso is adorned with various belts and straps which go around his shoulders, chest, and neck. On his left side, he wears a badge with a dog symbol reminiscent of the Bloodhound Family's logo, and above it he wears a silver gear. He has a maroon tie in the same shade as his pants, with golden maple leave cuffs.

His right arm has clear scarring, which glows a bright purple during his attack and idle animations. He wears a single leather fingerless glove on his right hand, and a white glove on his left. He has deep maroon pants with a blue and silver pattern running up the lower half. He also has a single thigh strap on his right leg and a flask tied to his hip which has a dog paw print cap. Lastly, Gallagher wears black shoes which have dog prints on the soles.

History

Origins

There is currently no information on Gallagher's life prior to the events of Penacony's War of Independence, when he joined up with the Nameless, as well as other factions to liberate the IPC prison colony.^[8] Within the Clockie cartoons, Gallagher is possibly remembered as the "Scammer Cup". Scammer Cup has been described as doing the following: Assisting Clockie in creating false advertising and tampering with the history of Dreamville, but to a version people end up preferring.^[9]

Gallagher was involved in the creation of Dreamflux Reef, a safe haven for those with issues with The Family. Following a period of history where Mikhail left Asdana, The Family established the Planet of Festivities but were deeply corrupt. Mikhail managed to convince a small group of people the truth, and Gallagher used the power of the Enigmata to create Dreamflux Reef.^[4] Presumably, this is the time he made Something Unto Death, also known as "Dormancy", a Memetic Entity used to transport people to the Dreamflux Reef.^[10] Gallagher also turned Orla, known better as Dr. Blues, into a Memetic Entity once his body grew old.^[6]

Present

Long before the main story of Penacony, Gallagher noticed Mikhail was up to something, and confronted him. Mikhail shared with Gallagher his plans to host a festival, and tasked Gallagher with sending invitations to numerous factions.^[11] Gallagher then assumed the role of a Bloodhound Family officer,^[12] and using Something Unto Death, helped create a struggle between the factions. Gallagher had two end goals: One was gathering forces, who could fight The Family and bringing them together inside Dreamflux Reef. and the second was causing a fight between the factions, in the hopes it would bring out a traitor in The Family. He eventually gathered Robin, Sunday, the Astral Express and Firefly and told them the truth of Penacony, the story of the Watchmaker and his own intentions.^[5] After the group bands together and decides to confront The Family, Himeko asks if he'll be joining them, but he declines, saying that as a "virtual character" he's completed his mission.^[1] Gallagher spent his last moments toasting the success of his plan with the Watchmaker's corpse, admitting that he'll cease to exist soon.^[7] Gallagher passed away,^[3] but he still had enough time to leave a note on the Astral Express, and gave the Nameless a gift, one of Misha's drawings.^[13]

Trivia

• Gallagher's Eidolons are named after cocktail recipes.
• In Trailblaze Mission A Walk Among the Tombstones, Sunday accuses Gallagher of being a "minion of the Enigmata." This statement was not originally present in the English dialogue, but was subsequently patched to match the Chinese version.
  • This was however still acknowledged by his updated Loading Screen in English.
• When asked of his age, Gallagher replies that he is "thirteen."^[14] Though this is played off as a deadpan joke about him appearing much older than thirteen, it may also be a reference to the Major Arcana in tarot, wherein the number 13 represents Death.
  • The Chinese version of the line explicitly presents it as an age:
    …十三岁。
    ...Shísān-suì.
    ...Thirteen years old.
• Gallagher hates bread.^[15]

Etymology

• Gallagher is an Irish surname, meaning "foreign help."
