Profile

Anaxa, full name Anaxagoras, is one of the twelve Chrysos Heirs, representing Reason. He is one of the seven sages of the Grove of Epiphany and the founder of the Nousporists school. He is often considered a "blasphemer" due to his research topics and his theories. Known as Experimental Factor "SkeMma720," among the Twelve Factors that make up the Amphoreus Experiment, he represents the Path of Erudition.

Appearance

Anaxa is a young man with long, light green hair tied into a ponytail over his right shoulder, and pale aqua eyes with magenta pupils. He has a red tattoo on his right hand as well as a gold-patterned, black eyepatch over his left eye.

He wears a detached-sleeved black and teal jacket, as well as a black and white capelet adorned in golden embellishments and a white ascot. At the center of his chest is a teal, eight-pointed star. He also wears black pants and crystal teal shoes with black details and red soles, as well as several pieces of golden jewelry and partially-fingerless gloves on his left hand.

History

Eternal Recurrences

• Eternal Recurrence #134 — Khaslana burned down the city of Dolos and revealed to Anaxagoras the answer about the cycles he had been looking for, so Anaxagoras decided to help him. Khaslana and Anaxagoras tried to claim the Coreflame of Reason, but were stopped by Cifera stealing it and before Khaslana could take it back, Anaxagoras tried to intervene and stop him. This failed, and he reclaimed the Coreflames of Reason and Trickery after killing both Anaxagoras and Cifera.^[1]
• Eternal Recurrence #67,023 — Anaxagoras and Khaslana made it to end of the recurrence together.^[2]

Eternal Recurrence #33,550,336

Both of Anaxagoras' parents died when he was very young, leaving him with only his older sister by his side, who struggled to sustain the family with her job. Despite this, his sister always carved a portion of her income to pay for Anaxagoras' books and tools, allowing him to develop his passions. He started to develop an interest on the secrets of life and hoped that he would be able to move to the Grove of Epiphany one day. After Anaxagoras got older, his sister raised enough funds to allow Anaxagoras to study at the Grove. In the middle of the journey towards it, however, Anaxagoras learned that the black tide had attacked his city. He rushed back to his hometown, but his sister had already passed away.^[3]

At the Grove, Anaxagoras joined the school of the Venerationists and became a student of their sage Empedocles. In an attempt to reunite with his sister, Anaxagoras sacrificed his left eye in a ritual. His sister appeared only for a moment, but it allowed Anaxagoras to finally say farewell and move on.^[4] After this encounter, he decided to continue Thalesus' research into souls, experimenting on his golden blood and the structure of souls.^[5] Empedocles, close to his death, helped Anaxagoras found his own school inside the Grove, the Nousporists.^[6]

Due to his studies, Anaxagoras developed a theory that the souls of human were the exact same as the ones of the Titans, which would lead him to receive the label of "blasphemer" from the other scholars. Despite this, Anaxagoras continued teaching at the Grove, with his main courses being Introduction to Alchemy and Story of Mythology, eventually becoming Castorice, Phainon, and Hyacine's teacher.^[7][8]

When the Grove was attacked by the black tide, Anaxagoras, along other scholars, remained at the academy to defend Cerces' Coreflame. As the black tide closed in, Anaxagoras attempted to fuse his soul with Cerces' Coreflame, but he failed and died in the process. Cerces, however, implanted their Coreflame inside his body, temporarily bringing him back to life. Anaxagoras, now controlled by Cerces, then helped the Trailblazer, Castorice and Trianne fight the Flame Reaver.^[6][9][10]

After escaping to Okhema, Anaxagoras, having regained control of his body, asked the Trailblazer and Castorice to accompany him as he visited the family of the scholars that passed away defending the Grove.^[11] Some time later, Anaxagoras told Phainon about the Flame Reaver and its hunt for the Coreflames.^[12] After learning that Oronyx's Coreflame had been stolen, Anaxagoras decided to help in retrieving it, using his body as bait in order to lure the Flame Reaver.^[13]

After the Trailblazer ascended as the demigod of Time, Anaxagoras' started to drift between life and death, allowing him to temporarily visit the Nether Realm. He decided to contact the Council of Elders in order to go against the Chrysos Heirs and organize a vote to stop the Flame-Chase Journey.^[5] While visiting Dawncloud to talk with Caenis, Anaxagoras fused his soul with Kephale's in order to see his memories, discovering about the cyclical nature of Amphoreus.To confirm this theory, Anaxagoras requests Castorice's help, asking her to visit Styxia and find Thanatos.^[14] During the citizen assembly, Anaxagoras votes for the Flame-Chase Journey after Castorice confirms his theory and explains how all of the current Chrysos Heirs will be reborn as the Titans of the next cycle. He also reveals that he and the Council of Elders committed blasphemy; as a result, Aglaea starts an investigation against Caenis and Lygus and announces Anaxagoras' execution.^[15] After talking things out with Aglaea, Anaxagoras takes Cerces' Coreflame out of his chest and his body disintegrates.^[16]

Eternal Recurrence #33,550,337

Anaxagoras was born in Year 4065 of the Light Calendar.^[17] In Year 4534, Cifera and Anaxagoras worked together to lure Lygus inside the Vortex of Genesis.^[18] Using his knowledge of alchemy, Anaxagoras turns himself into a Philosopher's Stone and asks Hysilens to crush the stone and scatter it in the Vortex of Genesis. This allows him to go undetected and fuse himself to Lygus' body.^[19] This allowed him to then control the body of the Antikytheran, before Lygus is forced to sever part of his neural circuits, rendering him unable to fight.^[20]

The Final Cycle

Anaxagoras, having ascended as the Titan of Reason, reunites with the Traiblazer, Cyrene and the other Titans in the Ruins of Time before fighting Irontomb.^[21] After defeating the Lord Ravager, Anaxagoras and the other Chrysos Heirs appear inside the Astral Express to say farewell before the story ends. He, alongside the rest of Amphoreus, currently exists inside of As I've Written, waiting for Amphoreus to become a real planet.^[22]

  • During the Trailblaze Mission Silver Chariot, Part With That Humanity's Epic, it is revealed that this sentence was the Trailblazer's parting words to Anaxa as As I've Written was concluded.

• Anaxagoras comes from the Ancient Greek philosopher Anaxagoras.
  • The name Anaxagoras is derived from Greek ἄναξ ánax meaning "master, lord" and ἀγορά agorā́ meaning "assembly, marketplace." Together, it means "Lord of the Assembly."
  • Notably, Anaxagoras was known to introduce the concept of "Nous," the cosmic mind that enforces natural laws and the order of all things.
