Profile

Qingque is one of the lowest-leveled diviners of the Divination Commission on the Xianzhou Luofu, intentionally doing the most minimal work and constantly slacking,^[1] to the point where Fu Xuan herself acknowledges Qingque's mastery of slacking off on her job.^[2] She joined the Divination Commission due to family pressure and the fact that she thought the Divination Commission would be relaxing.^[1]

She is a hidden genius, who often intentionally lowered her own grade back in school to remain "average."^[3] Yao Guang personally chose her to be her successor as the Arbiter-General of the Xianzhou Yuque, sending her to the Omniscience Sapientia Academe to train.^[4]

She is a master at Celestial Jade, and was the one who revived the game for her own leisure, unintentionally becoming famous.^[5]

Appearance

Qingque is a short young woman with medium-length beige hair and green eyes. Her hair is pulled into low twintails that are braided above the base. Both twintails are fastened with black hair ties, with an extra decoration featuring a white bird and black ribbon tied to the left ponytail.

She wears a knit black shoulderless turtleneck top with a green bodice that extends into a tailcoat, decorated with cloud and bird embellishments. The turtleneck collar has a black bow on the back. There is a gold fastener and a red tassel at the waist. Tied-and-laced sections on the sleeves and back have green bows and double tassels with star ornaments attached to them, respectively. A red strap can be seen on her right shoulder, and she has a cufflink on both pleated green cuffs of her sleeves. Underneath the top is a double-layered green-and-white pleated skirt with pale green bird design that reaches her upper thighs. Below her white socks are white-soled black ankle boots adorned with a green ruffle and gold zipper.

History

Qingque used to get 60 points out of a 100 in school, in which the teachers said she was the average genius, before noticing that she kept getting the same grade. However, Qingque never stopped getting 60 points, which led to them calling her a failure.^[3] Because of her family and wanting a job where she can easily slack off, she joined the Divination Commission.^[1] However, she was bombarded with work, where she eventually mastered slacking off in the Divination Commission.^[6] One day, she snuck some blueprints out of the Divination Commission's repository and contacted her friends from the Artisanship Commission to recreate the game.^[5] The game became massively popular, but she didn't reveal her identity as the reviver.

When Fu Xuan took Kafka as a hostage, she told the Trailblazer to wait for her messenger, which she sent Qingque for. Qingque, like usual, slacks off in her duty playing Celestial Jade, before the Astral Express crew arrived beside her and watched her play.^[7] After being caught, she guided the crew to the Divination Commission. When they arrived, Fu Xuan had Qingque restart the three base terminals of the Matrix of Prescience Ultima.^[8]

Before Yao Guang went to Planarcadia, she assigned Qingque as her chosen successor and sent her to the Omniscience Sapientia Academe to train and study in the ways of an Arbiter-General.^[4] Qingque eventually managed to sneak off and coincidentally met with Topaz and Dr. Ratio to divine on who will win on the racing game held by Ratite.^[9]

• Fu Xuan is featured in the bottom-right corner of Qingque's splash art.
• The scroll in Qingque's splash art features:
  • A parody of the Vitruvian Man, a drawing by Leonardo da Vinci, with the man's head replaced by that of a fish.
  • The Longmen (Chinese: 龙门) legend, in which a carp leaps over the Dragon Gate to transform into a dragon.
• The fish element recurring throughout Qingque's design and Chinese dialogue is a reference to the Chinese slang, 摸鱼 mōyú (literally "to touch a fish") which means "to procrastinate" or "to slack off."
• Qingque's Celestial Jade tiles, as well as the game itself, are based on the real-life game mahjong.
  • The Chinese names of Qingque's Eidolons are based on terms from mahjong and another ancient Chinese board game, Liubo (Chinese: 六博).
  • In the Trace 'n' Drift Event, Qingque's Spheroid "Thirteen Orphans" (Chinese: 十三幺) is named after a type of hand in mahjong.

Etymology

• 青 Qīng means "blue" or "green," and 雀 Què means "bird" or "sparrow." The name may be a reference to Qingniao (Chinese: 青鸟 Qīngniǎo, "blue (or green) bird"), messengers of the goddess Xiwangmu.
