Profile

Hanya is a judge and oneiromancer of the Ten-Lords Commission on the Xianzhou Luofu, in charge of interrogation.^[1] She is the younger sister of Xueyi, another judge of the Ten-Lords Commission.^[2][3] She was stricken by mara when Shuhu invaded the Cangcheng and pierced her with THEIR branches, but did not succumb to mara after Teng Xiao saved the survivors.^[4] The Ten-Lords Commission granted her and Xueyi another chance, where she was delegated the task to use oneiromancy to calculate mara's next appearance. She drinks the Wine of Oblivion to forget the memories she reads from those she interrogates.^[5]

Around Xueyi, Hanya exhibits a tender and extroverted side, often taking her for strolls and doing silly things.^[1][6] She also rambles on about how tedious and tiring her paperwork is.^[7][8]

Appearance

Hanya is a young woman with gray eyes and light blue pupils. She has gray, thigh-length hair that is tied into a low ponytail with a dark blue and red bow. Her bangs in front frame her face, and she wears dark blue and red wing-like decorations on either side of her head, the left side with a red and cyan tassel.

She wears a black sleeveless mock neck leotard, black lace collar that is attached to the leotard with a red strip at the back, golden choker with a large, cyan ornament hanging from it, and arm gloves with golden hand accessories. She also wears a dark navy blue strapless dress with a cut out in the stomach and waist and a slit in the chest, with a light navy blue sash around her waist and reaches her hips. The center has a golden sun-shaped ornament, as well as a golden ornament in the back, both attached to a black belt on the sash. She has a dark navy fabric that reaches her thigh hanging from each of her black arm brassards, along with two black fabrics with red tips hanging from her sash, reaching her ankles, and two dark navy fabrics in the middle, one in front and reaches her knee, and the other in the back reaches her ankle. She also has a black tattoo on her left thigh, matching golden ankle bracelets, and black sandals with blue outsoles that leave her toes exposed with black toenail polish.

History

Xueyi took care of Hanya when they were still young. Due to Rahu and Shuhu consuming the citizens of the Cangcheng, Xueyi contracted mara and died trying to save Hanya, but Hanya also contracted mara.^[9] The Ten-Lords Commission granted Hanya another chance and surpressed her mara.^[1][5]

Xueyi, Hanya, and Huohuo were assigned to the heliobi within Fyxestroll Garden to create an Evil Binding Matrix. One night, Guinaifen, Sushang, and the Trailblazer snuck into Fyxestroll Garden and were surrounded by Wraith Wardens, before being saved by Xueyi and Hanya.^[10] After that, Hanya announced to Guinaifen, Sushang, Huohuo, and the Trailblazer that they are now part of the "Ten-Lords Commission Special Operations Team."^[7] When Huohuo disappeared, Hanya gathered the ghost-hunting squad to look for her, going as far as to free Tail to return her safely.^[11][12]

After hearing that something has gone wrong in the Shackling Prison, Hanya, along with the Trailblazer and Dan Heng, went into the prison, where they find Xueyi in a cycrane and find out who caused Hoolay to break out. When the borisin began to escape, she stayed behind to keep the remaining borisin from going to the exit.^[13][14] Eventually, the situation died down and Hanya was able to help with the escaped borisin from the outside.^[15]

• Assuming that Hanya witnessed the destruction of the Xianzhou Cangcheng, this would make her over 1,800 years old.
  • This corroborates with her statement that she and Xueyi have worked for the Ten-Lords Commission for nearly 1,200 years.^[5]
  • Hanya's actual age is highly classified.^[16]
• Hanya and Xueyi are twin sisters.^[17]
• Although Hanya is markedly desensitized to the world, she has a tendency to ramble about random things, which is the subject of the Achievement Let Her Cook.
  • In her "rambling" overworld idle animation, she writes in the same notebook that is featured in her splash art. Its cover has the word "NOTE" in Xianzhou Script written at the top, and drawings of her and Xueyi at the bottom.

Etymology

• 寒鸦 Hányā (lit. "frigid crow") is the Chinese name for the jackdaw.
• Complimenting Xueyi as the white stones, Hanya represents the black stones in Chinese Weiqi chess. Another name for Chinese Weiqi is 乌鹭 wūlù, in which 乌 wū means crow and 鹭 lù means egret.^[18]
