Taikiyan is an athletic entertainment hub, famous for its Roboball matches, and a mentioned planet in Honkai: Star Rail.

Description

Taikiyan is known as the birthplace of the Roboball sport. The most advanced arena on the planet is the Taikiyan Stadium.^[1] The stadium is constructed using transparent polycarbonate material to give the audience an unobstructed view of the games. Their standard three-dimensional circular race track is 2.91 kilometers long, usually made with a metal structure covered with smooth concrete and natural wooden floors. The width of the flat central area of the track is 5 meters wide, while the width of the curved areas on both sides range from 2 to 14 meters. The track is lit with disconnected point light sources that are seen by the athletes in high speed travel as connected lines, as well as several dimly visible lumens. During a game, the stadium is filled with banners, flags, and airborne malt foam.^[2]

Culture

During the games, the inside of the stadium is filled with the audience roaring the names of the team and players,^[1] as well as sounds of whistles and collisions from the players. Outside, the streets remain crowded, lit by lights and advertisements,^[2] and bustling with activities. There is a trading market for broadcasting licenses, exclusive sponsorship, and advertising contracts. Underground betting is another prevalent activity^[1] for visitors and players alike, with several cases of bettors losing an inordinate amount of money.^[3]^[4] Sightseeing cruises are available as well.^[1]

Roboball

The Roboball game is played between two teams, each comprising seven players.^[2] The sport involves physical clashes, and the athletes wear propulsion equipment and protective armor.^[1] The rules of the competition are unknown, though they are most likely derived from the underground rules of past assessors in Taikiyan.^[2]

The game is played using a Roboball, a high-tech iron ball made of carbon fiber and stainless steel, with a diameter of 35 centimeters and weight of 30 kilograms. It constantly chases alterations of the Phase Flame, which increases the unpredictability of the game.^[2]

Competitions are divided into brackets, one of which is the amateur bracket.^[4]

The Interastral Peace Media has exclusive broadcasting rights over the game, and they use ultraremote sensing technology to broadcast the game live. The sensory experience of the top athletes is recorded as well, allowing homebound viewers to also experience the speed, collisions, whistles, and arclights of the competition.^[2]

History

Past

Taikiyan was originally an IPC scuttle site for spaceships. Value assessors were dispatched to the planet to clean up old ship wreckage for any remaining value. They regarded the assignment as an exile with no chance of returning back from the planet. The assessors’ intensifying desire to be recalled led to them fighting for high-quality parts using propulsion equipment, fleeing from and in pursuit of each other, with their own set of underground rules. Footage from their wearable cameras were transmitted back to the IPC to be watched as after-dinner entertainment by the higher-ups.^[1]

The Traditional Project Department saw potential in these entertainment activities, leading them to plan the first Taikiyan Roboball competition in the galaxy. They sent planet terraforming machines to the planet and emptied the planet from the decommissioned spaceships.^[1] The department invited sports experts from Interastral Peace Entertainment and requested them to transform Taikiyan’s underground rules into a lucrative competition. Material experts designed the Roboball, while sports equipment experts developed standard-issue propulsion protective armor.^[2]

The Taikiyan Roboball Association was formally established, and the initial version of the Taikiyan Roboball Game Rules was formulated. The Interastral Peace Entertainment invited the wealthy to participate in the league, promising them the exposure of the sport. League clubs were established and the most talented players were assembled. Afterwards, the planet hosted its first game, transforming it into an athletic hub ever since.^[2]

At some point in the past, a group of Nameless rode snowmobiles into the Taikiyan Stadium and disrupted the match, causing the match to be suspended. As a result, twenty Trailblazers were forced to repair the severely damaged exterior of the stadium for three months without pay.^[5]

Pound, a man from Penacony, went to Taikiyan and joined the Roboball competition, in the hopes of earning enough money for himself and his lover Cocona to leave the Dreamscape. He borrowed an inordinate sum of money from The Family and bet that he would become champion in the amateur bracket. However, he lost the championship by a hair's breadth and incurred a massive debt. His fate is unknown.^[4]

Recent

Director Topaz, Senior Manager of the Strategic Investment Department and member of the Ten Stonehearts, once had a project on Taikiyan, causing her to miss the retirement farewell party of her mentor, Francisco Dvorski. She promised to bring back some souvenirs, as he was a fan of Roboball.^[6]

Some time ago, March 7th, accompanied by Dan Heng, smashed a hole through the Taikiyan Stadium while steering a landing pod in an attempt to land directly at the location. They were jailed for a few days before Welt came and got them out.^[7] They were also required to do two weeks of community service.^[8]
