Pathstrider

A Pathstrider is a term referring to those whose wills align closely with a Path, regardless of their views on it, and are therefore able to draw power from it.^[1] According to Screwllum, those who possess Path Energy aren't necessarily Pathstriders.^[2]

Description

Devotees, warriors, seekers of knowledge, lost travelers... There are always mortals who, intentionally or otherwise, set foot on the Paths ruled by Aeons. Those who do so came to be known as Pathstriders that carry out the Path's will.

Pathstriders live thousands of different lives. They can be seen everywhere, yet stand out a cut above the rest. Different from regular people living in confusion and without a firm allegiance, Pathstriders are driven by precepts or their own desires as they embark on a life of determination and hard work.

The Aeons usually ignore those mortals who walk upon THEIR Paths. But the infrequent glances THEY cast — be it in approval or pity — are enough to be highly treasured by THEIR followers.

Fate Collaboration

During the Fate/stay night Event, Screwllum uses the memories of Pathstriders to create a repeatable simulation of the Holy Grail War.^[38] The game mentions to not take the lore implications seriously while within the Ritual Archives Enemy Servants screen, though the collaboration itself is confirmed to be canon through later references to it in the story. The following characters are featured within the simulation, and are thus implied to be Pathstriders:

Divergent Universe

Sometime after Penacony's Charmony Festival, Screwllum and Dr. Ratio collaborated to created the Divergent Universe, starting a project known as "The Human Comedy." As part of this research, the Trailblazer could enter the Divergent Universe, and through the extrapolation of Equations, generate themselves as a materialized Pathstrider. This suggests that all Divergent Universe: The Human Comedy Equations are different Pathstriders.^[39]

Trivia

• According to the Simulated Universe, sometime around the events of the Scholar's Strife, an Intelligentsia Guild scholar named Arblad attempted to duplicate Pathstrider's Path energy using cell printing duplicates of themselves. This process never succeeded, despite Arblad's claims her theory was completely sound, and she later disappeared looking for an Emanator to test.^[40]
