Slothsheep

Last updated 2026-05-26

Slothsheep are an exploration mechanic in Nod-Krai. They are exclusive to the northern areas of Nod-Krai: Voidsea Outlook, Wavechaser Plain, and Ashveil Peak.

The player can absorb a Slothsheep's "Seed Core" to guide its movements. Throwing its core will cause the Slothsheep to charge towards it, creating a powerful kuuvahki current at its destination. This current can purify Abyssal energy or charge other objects that are sensitive to kuuvahki, such as Lunar Conflux Barriers. It can also be generated by hitting the Slothsheep.

Overview

Similarly to Mandragoras, Slothsheep can exist in three states: Fallowed, Suffused, or Blighted (affected by Abyssal energy). While in the Fallowed or Blighted state, Slothsheep cannot be guided or generate kuuvahki currents, but will become Suffused if exposed to kuuvahki. Additionally, Blighted Slothsheep cannot move.

The player can absorb a Suffused Slothsheep's "Seed Core" to guide its movements (within a certain range), then throw its "Fruit Core" to launch the Slothsheep in that direction. Upon reaching its Fruit Core, the Slothsheep will unleash a powerful kuuvahki current and knock back nearby enemies. If this kuuvahki current is used to purify Abyssal corruption or melt a Lunar Conflux Barrier, the Slothsheep will enter the Fallowed state. Otherwise, it will remain Suffused.

The kuuvahki current generated by a Slothsheep is particularly strong, allowing it to destroy Abyssal Riftlines and fill two levels of a Lunar Conflux Barrier instead of one.

The player can only control one kuuvahki object at a time:

Slothsheep can initiate combat when within range of enemies. They can be targeted by attacks, and after taking a certain amount of damage from Abyssal enemies,‍[verification needed] they will fall and enter the Blighted state.

Mysterious Slothsheep
Tutorial Mysterious Slothsheep 1
Under the influence of pure kuuvahki energy, these wondrous plant-like creatures have emerged after a long period of evolution. They look like goats on the outside, but they are essentially the fruit of some mysterious plant.

Tutorial Mysterious Slothsheep 2
After absorbing the "Seed Core" that resides within it, you may direct its movement. Throw the "Fruit Core" to guide its movement and launch them at the Seed Core's location, which will release a single powerful kuuvahki current.
Fallowed, Blighted, and Suffused...
Tutorial Fallowed, Blighted, and Suffused 1
The objects that coexist with kuuvahki energy exist in three different states. Objects lacking kuuvahki exist in a Fallowed state, those affected by the Abyss enter a Blighted state, objects fully infused with kuuvahki will enter a Suffused state. When these objects are in Fallowed and Blighted states, you are unable to obtain kuuvahki from them.

Tutorial Fallowed, Blighted, and Suffused 2
Kuuvahki that exists in its pure energetic form can propagate through currents.
Upon impact, objects that are Suffused with kuuvahki will release a single kuuvahki current, providing energy to other objects susceptible to kuuvahki within a certain range. These objects will then become Suffused.

Tutorial Fallowed, Blighted, and Suffused 3
When necessary, hit Suffused objects to release a single kuuvahki current.

Trivia

  • The name "Slothsheep" seems to refer to the creature's slow stride and willingness to be guided, rather than its physical appearance, which more so resembles a giant rabbit with goat horns.
  • They are edible and purportedly delicious, according to Illuga.[1]
  • Despite being a notable lifeform, the Slothsheep doesn't have an entry in the Wildlife archive and is an exploration mechanic instead.
