Frostbearing Tree

The Frostbearing Tree is a point of interest located in Snow-Covered Path, Dragonspine, Mondstadt.
It is a new sprout of an ancient Irminsul Tree that was destroyed by the Skyfrost Nail. Revived by the blood of the Abyssal dragon Durin, it finally bloomed once more after the Traveler shattered the Ancient Rime that encased it during the World Quest In the Mountains.
Offering Crimson Agates to the Frostbearing Tree will increase the level of Frostbearing Tree's Gratitude and provide rewards. After raising the Frostbearing Tree's Gratitude to its maximum, the tree's branches will sprout crystalline crimson butterflies.
Lore
The Frostbearing Tree was once an Irminsul Tree that was revered by the ancient civilization of Sal Vindagnyr. It is said that the last princess of that kingdom was born beneath it.[1]
Around 6000 years ago, Celestia cast down the Skyfrost Nail upon Sal Vindagnyr, burying the mountain in relentless ice and snow. As a result, the Irminsul Tree's canopy and trunk were shattered into fragments, which were then frozen.[2] In a desperate attempt to save their sacred tree, the princess of Sal Vindagnyr salvaged one of its branches and traveled to a small island to try and graft it onto another plant. However, this plan ultimately failed, and she is implied to have died in the process.[3]
Around 500 years ago, the Abyssal dragon Durin was slain by Dvalin over Dragonspine, and his blood seeped into the Ley Lines on the mountain. The unique properties of this blood (the exact nature of which is unclear) revitalized the Frostbearing Tree, but also seems to have tainted it with the malevolent energy of the Abyss, as the newborn tree is described as having a "thirst for more power."[2][4] It also has red markings instead of the typical blue.
At some point, the Frostbearing Tree became covered in a layer of Ancient Rime. It was finally freed during the events of In the Mountains, when the Traveler destroys its icy shell and nourishes it with more of Durin's blood in the form of Crimson Agate. As the Traveler offers more Crimson Agate, the tree grows in size and strength, eventually using "all its might" to bear a single fruit: The Frostbearer Catalyst.[1]
