Lore
The Corridor's power comes from the Temple of Space itself. In order to construct the Path to the Heavens and reach the Cage of Suchness, one must offer up all memories. This was first completed by Raumhilda during her journey through the Temple of Space in order to face Melanta. After their confrontation, Melanta severs the Path to the Heavens and destroys half of the Corridor of Nothingness.[1][2]
During World Quest The Final Judgment in Series A Long Day in the Mountains: Chapter 3 - Judgment, the Traveler, Paimon and Zeitlind, Raumhilda's younger sister, succeed in reestablishing the Path to the Heavens by sacrificing Zeitlind's memories that together with those remaining of her sister, form a lasting path to the Cage of Suchness. The Traveler traverses through the Corridor emerging in the fantasies the two sisters shared. The group eventually arrives at the Cage of Suchness and confronts Melanta.
Gameplay Notes
- After interacting with the Memory Core in the Samma Sambodhi Chamber a black screen transition is shown, saying The Corridor of Nothingness continues...
- Co-Op Mode is disabled and Portable Waypoints cannot be placed here.
- Upon entering the Path to the Heavens via the portal in the door, the active character will be restricted to the Traveler and cannot be controlled.
- The player is only able drift through the corridor, reliving the same memory sequence seen in The Final Judgment.
Trivia
- Asmoday did not design the Path to the Heavens.[2] It is unclear who was its creator.
- One of the frames found in the Path to the Heavens depicts Sretomorozsk, being the first in-game depiction of Snezhnaya before Version 7.0.
