Vahumana

Vahumana is one of the Six Darshans, the six main schools of Sumeru Akademiya.
It is specialized in aetiology,[1] the study of causation or origination of phenomena, and includes disciplines such as history and social sciences.
Its school color is yellow.[2] The mascot on its symbol resembles a horse.
Overview
Members of Vahumana undertake expeditions to ruins, bringing back artifacts for study. While they may collaborate with Haravatat students when translating documents, this is liable to academic sabotage — Scroll of Streaming Song contains an exchange revealing that the Haravatat Herbad consulted withheld information so that they could criticize the Vahumana scholars' translation via annotations after publication.[3][Note 1]
A popular topic among Vahumana students is Time-Sensitive Commodities, or TSC. Their research and advice on this topic has helped fruit and vegetable sellers at the Grand Bazaar prevent waste and save Mora.[4] They also work alongside Amurta scholars to design products related to food preservation and overfishing.[5][6]
While Azar was in power, desertfolk who were accepted into the Akademiya, such as Nefer, were automatically assigned to Vahumana instead of taking the entrance exam that would determine which Darshans they were eligible for. This approach was not completely supported by Akademiya staff, such as Cyrus, but their concerns were suppressed by Azar's supporters.[7] Since Azar's exile, the previously declining Darshan has become more popular.[8]

- Vahumana scholars typically refer to Khaenri'ah by their archaic name, Dahri.[9]
- In "Paimon's Version Update Notes" for the Luna VIII update, Paimon states, "All those Vahumana studies really paid off, and now Paimon can read super-duper fast!" (in reference to a dialogue pace optimization), indicating that Paimon is either a member of the Vahumana Darshan, or has taken classes relating to the Darshan.

Etymology
- Like the other Six Darshans, the name "Vahumana" is derived from one of the six Zoroastrian deities who encompass the Amesha Spenta. Vohu Manah, which is Avestan for "Good Purpose" or "Good Mind," represents the concept of being in a good state of mind that allows a person to accomplish their duties.
