Official Introduction
"Tactical strategy: Annihilation-Delta!""Yes, Captain Magus!"
Orphie Magnusson & "Magus"
"Stop staring at those flashy action figure ads! Or I'll confiscate all those ones you've got stashed in your drawer!"
"That won't do, Captain! Unless you want to wake up tomorrow with pink holsters!"
"Tch... Get me two boxes of gun oil and I'll pretend I didn't see anything."
"Thanks Captain! You want the Nitro-Fuel flavored ones again, right?"
Profile
Orphie Magnusson and Magus are two members of the Obol Squad. Orphie is a human soldier, and Magus is the gun-like Intelligent Construct attached to Orphie's tail.
Due to being created solely as a gunner, Orphie has doubts about her uniqueness as a person and her purpose outside of the military. She is aware that many of her comrades in the New Eridu Defense Force pity her and mock her, with some even being disgusted by her existence. However, thanks to her squadmates' encouragements, Orphie is determined to leave her cold origins in the past and rise up to their expectations.[1]
Magus is the brusque captain of the Obol Squad, wary by nature and distrustful of proxies, including Phaethon. Despite being tough on her subordinates, she cares deeply about them. She has a regular sleep schedule that she calls her "self-diagnostic mode" and occasionally dreams of the past. She often forgets to address others by proper rank while on duty.[2]
History
Before the Fall of the Old Capital, Magus, whose real name was Orpheus, was a soldier of the Defense Force's Agamemnon Squad, serving under Colonel Isolde. During the disaster, Agamemnon Squad was tasked with guarding a train that they believed was carrying civilians out of the Hollow. The squad eventually came under heavy assault from Ethereals, with many of them being injured and later perishing in the skirmish. Yijiang, 12th High Preceptor of Yunkui Summit and Yixuan's sister, came to their rescue, ultimately sacrificing herself using the power of the Qingming Sword, allowing Isolde and a heavily injured Orpheus to escape.
Despite surviving the battle, Orpheus eventually succumbed to her injuries. The Defense Force managed to salvage her body in a cloning experiment, while her remaining consciousness was uploaded into a special gun Intelligent Construct.
The gun donned the old codename she had used in the military, Magus, while the clone was similarly named after the real-life soldier and became known as Orphie Magnusson. However, Orphie was designed for the sole purpose of aiding Magus as a gunner and nothing more.[1]
Agent Weapon
Though there is no official information about Orphie Magnusson & Magus' Agent Weapon, through their combat style, it can be justified that their Agent Weapon is (literally) Magus. Both Orphie and Magus show proficiency and utilize a combat knife as well, though the latter mainly uses it with her mouth, the knife can also clip to the bottom of Magus's body, like a bayonet.

Agent Details
Orphie Magnusson serves in the New Eridu Defense Force's Obsidian Division, Obol Squad. She is the wielder of Magus, an Intelligent Construct in gun form.
Magus is the captain of Obol Squad. She was gravely injured during the fall of the old capital and on the brink of death. After taking part in a military research project, her consciousness was transferred into a weapon, allowing her to survive as an Intelligent Construct. Since the squad's formation, she has remained its heart and soul — hot-tempered and impulsive at times, yet deeply respected and trusted by her comrades.
Orphie shares an extraordinary bond with Magus — one that goes far beyond that of just "partners." The two have known each other for years, and Magus often acts like a mother, offering guidance and care. In return, Orphie does everything she can to meet Magus' expectations, aspiring to become a strong, independent soldier like her captain.
Strictly speaking, Orphie enjoys many things Magus disapproves of: fancy desserts, cute animals, and overly decorative toys. Her captain sees them as signs of softness, unfit for a soldier. Still, while Magus enforces discipline in public and imposes the expectations of a perfect soldier, she pretends to be in "sleep mode" just to turn a blind eye to Orphie's less-than-perfect behavior. According to this supposedly "strict and impartial" captain, she's simply following the parenting advice laid out in an online series titled "Raising a Child Prodigy."

It may seem like Captain Magus is the one giving orders and calling the shots, but in truth, Orphie quietly keeps her in check in her own way.
They see each other as reflections of themselves, sharing certain vulnerabilities, though Magus tends to keep hers well concealed.
Note: Even so, you've already uncovered plenty of weaknesses Magus tried to keep hidden. Nothing escapes your keen eyes!

| Orphie has a great personality — being around her really puts you at ease! But her obliviousness has caused Magus a fair share of grief, and she seems totally unaware of it... | |

| The way those two interact is pretty entertaining. If someone made a movie starring that girl and her gun, it'd probably do pretty well at the box office. |

"The Talking Tail" Orphie stands at the video store entrance, attracting curious customers by discussing movie plots with Magus. Sometimes, when that hot-headed captain gets into heated arguments with passersby about plot interpretations, the sales numbers actually end up even higher! |
For some reason, the more aggressive Captain Magus acts, the more videotapes customers rent... Ugh, should I stop her from arguing or not? |

Trivia
- Magus has an attachment to the lower part of her "body" that resembles a tie, likely to fit in with the design of other captains in the Defense Force.
Etymology
- Orphie is a diminutive of Orpheus, the name of the mythological Greek bard, who, among other feats, descended into the Underworld to recover his lost wife Eurydice.
- Most localizations support this reading, using directly Orpheus instead of Orphie.
- This is also supported by Orphie and Magus being based on the in-universe Orpheus.
- Magnusson is a Scandinavian patronymic surname meaning "son of Magnus."
- Prior to Version 1.6, in her English voice lines, Soldier 11 referred to Magus by a different name, sounding like the Spanish word brujas "witches". Notably, "magus" also means "magician," while their Chinese name, 鬼火 Guǐhuǒ and Japanese name 鬼火 Onibi, means will-o'-the-wisp.
- Orphie being a physical replica of Orpheus and Magus having the consciousness of Orpheus could be a reference to Orphism, an ancient Greek religion which believes that humanity has duality of body and soul.
- Orphie Magnusson & Magus shares the same English voice actor, Dawn M. Bennett, with:
