Cissia/Lore

Last updated 2026-06-17

"WHO WORKS FOR PUBLIC SECURITY? ME? C'MON, QUIT IT WITH THE HORROR STORIES!"
— WHEN ASKED THE QUESTION OF HOW SHE BECAME A CASE SPECIALIST

"HER REIMBURSEMENT STATEMENTS THIS MONTH ARE... 3 STOREFRONT WINDOWS, 1 OLD ENERGY MODULE SEDAN, AND... 27 BOWLS OF OMELETTE RICE? DON'T ASK MORE QUESTIONS — JUST WIRE IT TO THE CHIEF'S PERSONAL ACCOUNT. THESE CASE SPECIALISTS NEVER EXPENSE THROUGH OFFICIAL CHANNELS, AND THEY DON'T NEED PROPER REASONS EITHER."
— A FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST FROM THE METROPOLITAN ORDER DIVISION, WHILE BRIEFING A NEWCOMER

"MY EVALUATION OF WORKING WITH HER? SHE'S THE TYPE OF COLLEAGUE WHO'D NEVER SHARE HER LUNCH — SELFISH, YET ENDEARING IN HER OWN WAY."
JANE

"HER LEGS ALWAYS GIVE OUT THE MOMENT SHE SEES ME... COULD IT BE THAT I'M GREETING HER TOO LOUDLY?"
ZHU YUAN

Official Introduction

"You guys and your whole 'love' and 'responsibility' and whatnot... How complicated. I just know one thing — if I like it, I sink my teeth in and don't let go~"
Cissia

"Lemme take a quick whiff to see if you got any snacks on you. If not, I can just take a little bite to tide me over~"
"...All of this is for me? What a generous suspect! I hereby declare you're off the hook!"
"But once we're in the Hollow, don't count on me to bail you out."
"If things go south, you can bet I'll be the first one outta here!"

History

Cissia grew up with Chalky in the Outer Ring before the Fall of the Old Capital. She, like many others who lived there, worked hard to procure oil to sustain their livelihoods, but due to the interference of forces from Eridu, only the biker gangs could provide the people with stability, so the people had to keep in line with them, with any who stood up against Calydon in particular being killed off by Sweepers. Due to having a lack of food, Cissia eventually began scavenging after areas that had been cleared out by Sweepers, namely Promeia and Black Wolf Romeul, however at one point she ran in to trouble with a pair of scavengers who beat her to secure any valuables for themselves. Promeia arrived in the aftermath, brutally killing the pair, with a terrified Cissia fleeing for her life, the incident causing her to subsequently develop a fear of Promeia.

After drifting for some time, she was found by Jane, who brought her back to Public Security. Commissioner Severian Lowell offered her the chance to work for them as a specialist, which she accepted and has been working as ever since. Despite her difficulties with Severian's demands of her, noting him as a "demon", she loves the stability provided by her job.

Agent Details

Cissia, a case specialist serving under the New Eridu Public Security Commissioner, is currently campaigning to become the new second-floor roommate at Random Play.

More than the danger of the mission itself, what she fears most is a call from her superior. The professionalism she shows in her actions is far more dependable than how she looks or the way she talks. Relying only on instinct and her senses, she can still make the right call.

She may claim to be a selfish, instinct-driven "bad guy," but the choices she makes often carry a faint glimmer of humanity beyond personal gain. She scoffs at order and justice, yet can become the sharpest blade in the hunt for the worst criminals.

But whether it's the lies she tells to protect herself, the fangs she shows when she bites back, or that wild philosophy of "survive and profit," Cissia has turned them all into a shield to protect the few things she still has. No matter what past or shackles she carries, she has already decided to make her stand here.

"Instinct" is the foundation Cissia relies on to survive, yet it has also become the force pulling her deeper into the vortex. She places too much trust in the signals she reads from scent, tracks, and subtle muscle movements, yet has never learned to spot the pitfalls buried in paperwork and systems of authority.

Before her arrest, the last "legitimate" job Cissia took was transporting a batch of confidential supplies. The client offered generous pay and a simple route — an easy task for someone who knew the Outer Ring's back alleys like the back of her hand. As usual, her animal-like vigilance helped her slip through a few narrow patrol windows. What she didn't realize was that every evasive move was being logged as evidence of "suspicious behavior" and "counter-surveillance ability." When the explosion that swallowed everything erupted, she had already slipped into an abandoned pipe seconds earlier after sensing an unusual surge of heat. It saved her life — and cemented her identity as the "only surviving, highly suspicious arson suspect."

In Public Security's files, her instincts and abilities were twisted into proof of a carefully planned crime. The interrogation wasn't meant to uncover the truth, but to carry out a cold procedure: blinding lights to break her tolerance for brightness, endless questioning to strip away her sense of time, and finally, when her body and mind were on the verge of collapse, a confession was pushed in front of her.

Amid countless misfortunes, fortune finally showed her a trace of favor. Commissioner Severian uncovered the glaring flaws in Cissia's interrogation records. Recognizing her remarkable talent and fundamentally good nature, Severian personally recruited her as a "case specialist." From that moment on, the collar and handcuffs were no longer simple shackles. They marked a dangerous line between her and the system of order she neither understood nor trusted — one she had learned to use to her advantage.

There isn't a single snack that can get past Cissia's eyes and nose! How in the world can she smell potato chips through the packaging?

Ever since Cissia started coming over on the regular, some things have never gone missing again... like those old videotapes that were always impossible to find. And some things have never been seen again either... like the leftover cheesecake in the fridge.

If that doesn't work, can we just knock the customers out with some poison and shove the videotapes into their pockets... No? Okay, okay — don't hit my brilliant brain!

Trivia

  • Cissia's Message Icon could be a reference to the serpent that convinced Eve to eat the forbidden fruit, often identified as an apple, in the Garden of Eden.
    • Additionally, the animation of Cissia that plays when going to the Equipment menu shows her licking grapes, another depiction of the forbidden fruit.
    • It could also be a reference to Ladon, a great serpent in Greek mythology who lived in the Garden of Hesperides in Morocco and protected a tree whose apples bestowed immortality on those who ate them.
  • Cissia's weapon seems to have been inspired by the caduceus. This is more prominent during Chaotic Revelry, where her weapon becomes electrified and turns into a pair of serpents.
  • The title of Cissia's character demo, The Dereliction of Suspect X, is a reference of the novel The Devotion of Suspect X (Japanese: 容疑者Xの献身 Yōgisha Ekkusu no Kenshin) by Japanese writer Keigo Higashino.
    • The scene in the demo where Cissia is handcuffed with one hand is a reference to the Chinese meme 窃·格瓦拉. The meme comes from the TV news interview to a man with one hand handcuffed to a wall, who, after stealing a scooter battery, claimed that he did not want to work ever in his life and preferred to stay in the jail he was currently in.[1]

Etymology

  • Cissia's name in Chinese, 希希芙 Xīxīfú, is homophonous with 西西弗 Xīxīfú, one of the Chinese transliterations for Sisyphus.
