Official Introduction
"This next song is dedicated to the world!"
Astra Yao
"It's too late! You're now officially invited to join me on my one-day escape plan. I'm gonna ditch work, run away, and make my way to Reverb Arena!"
"You know, I actually think that being recognized is kinda cool~"
"Every era needs an iconic artist, someone who bears the people's aspirations of that era and brings them hope."
"Good evening, New Eridu! Are you ready? I'm about to hit you with some incredible magic!"
Profile
'The Queen' of New Eridu, Astra Yao is a multitalented celebrity mainly known for her singing prowess and impact she had on Ridu's music scene. Examples of her musical prowess include "The Ultimate Voice," which led to a live album from that concert and a videotape labeled "f.f." being released afterwards,[1], the album "Monologue," with the final song being a compilation of interviews she did for the "Jealous" Magazine[2], and "Stars of Lyra," Astra's first album she recorded before her big debut.
Outside of her stage presence, Astra Yao is a relatively hapless and bubbly young lady, always eager to explore New Eridu, meet fans or spend time with the Legendary Proxy Phaethon. Because of this, she's semi-dependent on her manager/bodyguard/close friend Evelyn Chevalier for daily life.
Astra is currently signed with Odeum HAE, a record label that is under the entertainment subsidiary of High Ambitions, one of the groups in the TOPS Alliance.
History
Like many of the citizens living in New Eridu, Astra Yao was but a child when Eridu fell due to Hollow Zero. Having been missing for 24 hours since the disaster, Astra was found between the border of Vulcan and Janus Quarters by a H.I.A squad. The captain of the squad helped calm Astra by teaching her a song as she readied her for extraction, whilst the rest of her team looked for other missing people, but only two members returned, the rest having been slain by Ethereals. With no other option, the captain told Astra to sing the song she just taught her, before ordering that only the rope connected to Astra should be lifted at full speed. Astra Yao was saved, but at the cost of the captain and her team.[3] The final words of her savior were "Be happy, child, live on with a smile."
Whilst at a makeshift shelter, wondering if her parents were okay, Astra overheard the music of Joran de Winter on a speaker. Her fear and loneliness melted away thanks to the melody, and the tears she once wept in sadness were now tears of joy. Noticing that others in the shelter were moved by Joran's music, Astra knew that the new era would need a new songstress and decided to become exactly that.[4]
Astra's start in the world of music was rough, with no access to good recording facilities or the funds to obtain a decent master copy, Astra's first album "Stars of Lyra" sold partially well. It wasn't until she signed with Odeum HAE that her music career blossomed. Astra Yao soon became one of the most popular musicians in all of New Eridu, to the point she obtained significant roles in the movies Family and The Heartbeat, appeared in countless forms of commercials for brands like Carlishe.[5] It got to the point rival music license Fugue sent Evelyn Chevalier to spy on her, which ended with the two becoming good friends to the point several of Astra's fans have shipped them.[6]
One day, an Intelligent Construct entered a coma after partaking in a beta test for a new VR machine that was funded by the TOPS Alliance, having learnt TOPS swept that info under the rug and with no way to openly oppose them, Astra used her connections to find a skilled VR-enthusiast to save the Intelligent Construct. She also used a prototype consciousness synchronizer with her Bangboo Snap in order to directly speak with the chosen enthusiast which just so happened to be Phaethon.[7] Since this encounter, Astra Yao became close friends with the proxy siblings, Belle and Wise, having them assist her in ditching a public event and thwarting an act of terrorism at her New Year's concert.

Impressions
- Completely different from The Queen she is under the spotlight, Astra Yao is more like an ordinary girl in her daily life... Though she has a curiosity that far exceeds that of a typical girl.
- Astra doesn't seem to care much for things like company rules... She prefers sneaking out to hang out with her fans.
- The imposing Queen and the bubbly girl — which one is the real Astra Yao? I can't help but feel like there's something inside her that drives her to be the way she is now...

Agent Details
Astra Yao is widely regarded as Ridu's most iconic singer. With her extraordinary voice, stage presence, and songwriting talent, she has led the musical trends of an entire era. "If music is the resonance of the soul, then Astra Yao is the spark that ignites it all," said one famous music critic.
As brilliant as she is, Astra remains remarkably sincere and pure. On stage, her voice resonates deeply with the audience, which has allowed her to amass a large and loyal fanbase known as her "Astranauts." Of course, Astra's brilliance wouldn't be possible without the careful protection of her manager, Evelyn. Offstage, she appears to be just a cute, hapless girl who depends on Evelyn in her daily life, and on Wise and Belle in the Hollows.
"If I tickled Eous, would it make you laugh?" Astra asked curiously while lifting the Proxy, who was linked via the HDD system.
She seems to have a particular fondness for Eous.
Contemplation: Human emotions are indeed an interesting subject. It's still hard to determine whether Astra likes Eous because of the owner, or whether she likes the owner because of Eous.

Astra is particularly fond of Random Play. However, her whereabouts are closely monitored. For now, it seems she can still use an excuse like, "The store offers rare versions of old movies, and I've got such good taste in movies, so of course I'd love it!" But being the biggest celebrity in Ridu, such frequent visits to a video rental store are not exactly conducive to keeping our identity under wraps.
But, who cares about that! If our identity gets exposed, so be it — Astra can't not come.
Contemplation: Creating various situations to bring Astra and Master together is a great way to win the Master's favor.

True Essence of Promotion Astra skillfully signed her name on every promotional flyer in the video store and then placed the flyers at the door before leaving... Before long, the outside of the store was crowded with people! The scene was indeed impressive, but in the end, fewer than half of those outside actually came in. Next time, maybe place the flyers at the counter... |

Trivia
- Her fans are called Astranauts.
- Before her debut, she released a self-produced album named “Stars of Lyra.”[8]
- Her Character Demo, Ridu Holidays, is based on Roman Holiday, a 1953 American romantic comedy film, where a princess ran away to Rome and travelled the city together with a reporter for a night.
- She won the Best Actress award for her starring role in the movie The Heartbeat.[9]
- As seen in her MV "Wonderland Reverie," Astra can speak and sing in Cantonese, which in-game is referred to as the "Waifei local dialect."[10]
- There's a rare variant of her second menu animation featuring Joran's Legacy instead of the usual disc that she spins.
Etymology
- Astra is Latin for "star, celestial body" in plural form.
- In Astra Yao's Chinese name, 耀嘉音 Yào Jiāyīn, her surname 耀 Yào, can mean "dazzle, radiance" but also "glorious", and it's an extremely rare surname. Her given name 嘉音 Jiāyīn is composed of 嘉 jiā, "praiseworthy" and 音 yīn, "sound, voice, music", which can be a reference to her being a singer. It could be also derived from a Chinese Chengyu 静待佳音 Jìng Dài Jiāyīn, which 佳 Jiā, "good, praiseworthy" is homophone to 嘉 in Astra's Chinese name.
- Notably, most localizations of Astral Voice display Astra Yao's given name in the title, be it Astra (astral is the adjective version) or 嘉音.
- Astra Yao shares the same English voice actor, Molly Zhang, with Seele in Honkai Star Rail.
- Astra Yao shares the same Chinese voice actor, Xiao N (小N), with:
- Astra Yao shares the same Japanese voice actor, Endō Aya (遠藤 綾), with:
