"Keys"

The "keys" are four type III general AIs equipped with total sequential integration, with real-time analysis of Hollow extraction paths as their core function and unlimited access to over 80% of all smart devices in New Eridu.^[1] They were planted by two unknown individuals from outside New Eridu inside the Inter-Knot Deep Database, with the mission to wait for someone who can awaken them.^[2] and sign the license agreement with them; from that moment they would serve them as their new master and wait for the "opportunity" to arrive. Their two old masters are monitoring their activation status from outside New Eridu.^[1] They refer to each other as "data sources from the 'Agreement'."^[3]

Etymology

• All four AIs take their name from supernatural entities of different cultures:
  • Fairy is named after the fairies present in multiple European cultures;
  • Youkai is named after the yōkai (Japanese: 妖怪) of Japanese culture;
  • Ghost is named after the ghosts, present in almost every culture, in this case with the Germanic name;
  • Jinni is named after the jinn (Arabic: جِنّ) of Arabic culture.
