Gilded Carrot Day

Gilded Carrot Day is an annual holiday celebrated in New Eridu on the last day of the year. It is known as "the day when light begins" and "the day the Hollows were first explored." It celebrates the coming new year, as well as the day "Joyous" escaped a Hollow using his own calculated path, paving the way for future Proxies and Hollow Investigators.[1]
Overview
Gilded Carrot Day is celebrated with a traditional ceremony known as the Yearlight Ceremony. At midnight, a Bangboo illuminates the Yearlight, a large decorative light display that symbolizes good fortune. The Bangboo chosen each year is the winner of Ridu's Got Boo, an annual Bangboo beauty contest. Other festivities leading up to the ceremony include musical performances and celebrity appearances, and fireworks are lit after the ceremony. This event is broadcast throughout the whole city.[1]
Story
Season 1
The Yearlight Ceremony was held in Lumina Square, with the Yearlight floating on the river.[2] Astra Yao was the guest performer and Eous was the ceremony's Bangboo.[3]
Season 2
In honor of Ye Shunguang being awarded the Void Hunter title, the Yearlight Ceremony was held in Failume Heights, and the mystics of Yunkui Summit were chosen to light the hovering Yearlight (which was built by Belobog Heavy Industries) instead of a Bangboo.[4] Though Vesper was slated to be the guest performer, she got caught up in a Public Security case and was unable to perform. Cecilia filled in for her and sang the Angels of Delusion's debut song that they specifically wrote for Gilded Carrot Day.[5]
Ridu's Got Boo was cancelled, since the people lighting the Yearlight were already decided.[6]
