Hollow Champion

Hollow Champion, also called the Hollow Champion competition, is an annual competition held in New Eridu wherein contestants defeat Ethereals within a set time limit for points.[1]
Overview
Registering as a contestant for Hollow Champion is extremely simple: the contestant must only provide their name, with no ID verification or other checks required. Contestants may compete solo or join as a team, with no limit on the amount of team members. Each team's members can view their team roster at any time to ensure the competition is fair. Team points are calculated based on both the difficulty level of the hunted Ethereals and the number of team members.
Upon registration, each participant is given a Beginner Ethereal Card, which calculates points based on their combat performance and obtains Carrots from official data terminals in the Hollow. The card is the only proof of participant status, is non-refundable, non-transferable, and its destruction will result in immediate disqualification. A disqualified participant's points will be reset to zero, but the team participant number coefficient will not remove them, which lowers the team's overall score. Anti-cheat measures have been added to the Ethereal cards ever since a programmer hid a cheat code in one card years ago, during one of the early competitions.[2]
The competition features four stages, each stage taking place in a different Hollow environment. After all four stages are completed, the contestants are ranked by their points, which can be redeemed for prizes or cash rewards. In order to prevent exhaustion, a five-to-seven-day break is placed after each stage.[1] The event organizers also install Ether Disruptors throughout the Hollows in order to keep the environment stable, and set up rest areas for the contestants in safe zones.[3]
History
The competition has existed for decades, since the time of the Old Capital, and was designed to boosts citizens' confidence in tackling Hollows.[1] The rules are lax and it offers a large amount of prize money, so many reckless participants are drawn in to the competition, including criminals. The event organizers eventually secured approval from the city administration and officially became known as the Hollow Extreme Athletics League (HEAL), and over time, the competition became more regulated.[4]
During the events of Season 2 Epilogue, Phaethon teamed up with the Cunning Hares to join the competition, which was sponsored by Rusty Cliff Corp. of the TOPS Alliance. The prize pool included pure gold statues, advanced Hollow equipment, precious antiques, high-purity Porcelume products, Bangboo photo collections, 60%-new replaceable Intelligent Construct joints, and a Flint Porcelloy W-Engine.[1] However, following various civilian deaths in the first stage, the competition was suspended until further notice. The culprit, Romeul, stole all the prizes and scattered them throughout the Hollow in order to incite chaos amongst all participants. He attempted to escape with the Porcelloy W-Engine, but he was defeated by Phaethon and arrested by Public Security. A spokesperson from HEAL stated that the competition would be reorganized as soon as possible, and background checks would be run on all contestants to ensure everyone's safety.[5]
