Merfolk are a humanoid species in Zenless Zone Zero.
Description
Biology
Merfolk have the upper body of a human, and the lower half of a fish. The only known mermaid to exist has red hair, with scales on her tail that are described as "jade-like".
History
Unlike Thirens, Oni and Intelligent Constructs, merfolk are not known to exist by the majority of New Eridu's population; they are considered as mythical sea spirits and beings of fairytales. They have been known to help people lost at sea; both Ahab and Ukinami Yuzuha were rescued by mermaids in the past,[1] but they otherwise avoid the city and its surrounding territories.
Ahab would obsess over merfolk after his rescue, trying to find evidence of them until he realized how much the hunt had consumed his life, and he abandoned it in favor of trying to reconnect with his family. After encountering Ahab, Phaethon and the Spook Shack trio of Yuzuha, Alice and Manato ventured in to the Hollow near the Fantasy Resort to find one. They were successful, and though the encounter was brief, Yuzuha recognized it as the same one that had saved her in her childhood.[2]
