Profile

Remielle is a melancholic figure, largely due to her displacement in time and the circumstances surrounding it. Though she enjoys teasing people and has great confidence in herself, it ultimately works to mask a deep loneliness within her. Having been removed from time for a century, she is ignorant towards many modern concepts, from modern institutions like H.A.N.D. to products like Teamilk and Nitro-Fuel. Her primary motivation at present is finding out the truth about where "Sunbringer" disappeared to. After recovering Thaumiel she discovered the true nature behind the three selves she left behind, and joined the Covenant of Dayat to investigate further. Despite having initially been in conflict with Eldreda Sunbringer, Remielle is ultimately invested in ensuring Roscaelifer's safety, as it is the life's work of her dear friend, left for the sake of the world.

Further information about Remielle Dan is locked behind Inter-Knot's Deep Database's File 0-3092-5800-A6.[1]

History

Remielle was one of the original generation of Void Hunters, having been born over 100 years ago, and is well known for pushing back the Dark Wall 37km, alongside Beliora Vike and the Leader of the Falkenhayn Mercenary Troupe. Before this she and Beliora were childhood friends, and Remielle herself was a well accomplished dancer, and described as a prodigy in most things she tried. She was close friends with the other Void Hunters, and was there when the Rosetta Data was proven to be viable, and when Sunbringer began prototyping the original Bangboo, where the rabbit ears she proposed eventually made it in to the final design (though most of her designs were rejected).

After having worked together with the other Void Hunters to take down an Enchainer, Remielle became one of the recipients of the Void Hunter Weapons that were forged from the beings Karma Core, that being Thaumiel, and used its power to great effect alongside her contemporaries. However the weapons all had severe side effects due to their power stemming from The Creator, and so when Arche and Sunbringer began their Project Sunseeker, which aimed to merge the Void Hunters with their weapon's Karma Cores, with the hopes of mitigating the costs while becoming even stronger, she joined the effort alongside Beliora, however this ended tragically as Beliora would transform in to an Enchainer, and Remielle was forced to kill her.

After this, Remielle's own transformation in to an Enchainer began, and the results, though incomplete, locked her in to a temporal stasis, where she would remain for the next century.[2]

About one year before Phaethon would arrive in Roscaelifer, Remielle awoke from her stasis, and promptly sealed Thaumiel away. Over this period she tried to grow accustomed to the new world, and investigated what happened to the other Void Hunters, leading her to fly to Roscaelifer to find Sunbringer. She encountered Eldreda, and confronted her about what happened during Project Sunseeker, but ultimately left without recieving an answer. It was then that she realised that she would need the power of Thaumiel if she wanted to press forward with her goals, while this "attempted assassination" made her a wanted criminal in the city. At some point in time she joined the Covenant of Dayat, though it is unclear if this was immediately after she was freed from stasis, or sometime after.

Following the Creator's defeat at the hands of Ye Shunguang, Remielle assumed the identity of "Ramiel", and went to retrieve her weapon Thaumiel, while cooperating with an unknown third party. At some point her actions became known to Public Security and Krampus, as the faded Ethereals left in her wake were discovered by them, prompting independent investigations by both parties. She entered the Hollow Champion Competition and first met Phaethon while they were examining the prizes, namely the Flint Porcelloy W-Engine - "Concealed Light". At the time, she stated that she was unsure what prize she should aim for, but had noted Phaethon's fixation on the W-Engine. In truth, she needed the W-Engine, as it was the key to unsealing her weapon.

Throughout the competition, she made use of her powers to clear through Ethereals with ease, but wouldn't show her face to Phaethon again until after they had passed out and suffered from a strange nightmare. Phaethon left Random Play to get some air, running in to Ramiel in front of Godfinger. She inquired about them, asking about their favorite Foodie Fighters character, and asking for help in fixing their Ethereal card, with Phaethon answering and helping her despite not intending to. She explained that she now intended to go after the Porcelloy W-Engine, before cryptically saying she would "pay you back for this favor by dealing with your nightmare in the future." Refusing to answer any follow-up questions from Phaethon, she promptly left.

When Romeul stole the W-Engine, along with the rest of the prize pool for the competition, Ramiel pursued him in to the Hollow, coming in to contact with several of Romeul's cohorts in the process. She dislocated every bone in their bodies before moving on after finding out they didn't have the W-Engine with them. After Romeul was defeated by Phaethon and their companions, she used her powers to freeze them all in place, casually taking the W-Engine from Phaethon's grasp, but not before noting that they seemed to just barely resist her abilities. She warned them to never let her get that close again before disappearing.[3]

Phaethon, Billy, and Cissia would pursue Remielle following this, tracking her through Lumina Square where she had encounters with Coco, Yi, Hailey, and Orchidea, before heading to Blazewood.[4] She encountered Phaethon again, dispelling their visions and answering a few more questions, while also revealing her true identity, to the group's surprise. Alongside Promeia, the group would follow her towards her weapon, with Rusty Cliff sending forces to try and dispatch her as well.[5] This eventually led to Phaethon coming in contact with Thaumiel, which transformed them in to an etheric entity of incredible power that immediately attacked their friends.[6] The transformed Phaethon singlehandedly defeated Billy, Promeia, and Cissia before Remielle intervened, reversing the transformation and apologizing for getting them in this situation. She explained she has a connection to Helios Academy like them, and that a doctor in Roscaelifer would be able to heal their condition before putting them to sleep.[7]

With Thaumiel now back in her possession, Remielle was able to sense the three Karma Core fragments that had been distributed among Eldreda, Dracaene and Lindverne, and came to understand their true nature. She came in to contact with the En-Nah Gang, with the ancient Prophetboo recognizing her as the real Remielle, and convincing the gang to shelter her. Under Griff's orders the Bangboo created a makeshift home for Remielle in their base at the Retroflux Zone, which remains her current base of operations.

After Phaethon arrived in Roscaelifer, they and Norma snuck in to the CCD as they were investigating a case where Bangboo were being assaulted and killed. At this time, Remielle continued her investigation, but lacking any idea on how to operate the area's computers, accidentally triggered the alarms, causing a brigade of Bangboo to chase Phaethon and Norma right to her. The three agreed to continue on together despite her criminal status.[8] They discovered a Singularity Leakage in the area being caused by the Ethereal Girtablullu, and hunted it down to rescue the imperilled Bangboo Toby, but before they could finish it off, Bashmu appeared, and the group was forced to retreat. Eventually Remielle was able to use her powers to suppress the monster, while Phaethon (with help from Helios), pushed it back in to a Fissure, successfully escaping.[9]

Afterwards, Remielle snuck in to Phaethon's room at Amber Hall, and after some back and forth, explained the concept of Enchainers and Karma Cores to them, before coordinating a new meeting with them later. At the appointed time, Remielle appeared in a Mr. Roar costume, but before she could converse much with Phaethon, Velina appeared and she had to retreat.[10] She returned to the En-Nah Gang's hideout, which eventually was found by Phaethon, and she agreed to help in their search for more information of the culprit behind the Bangboo-killings. The revelation that the culprit looked remarkably like their old friend from Helios Academy - Serpico, led Phaethon go investigate a mech as it was about to explode, forcing her to intervene as the two had a heated confrontation. Due to this however, the two resonated, each recieving a glimpse of the other's memories. In truth, Remielle had experienced this before, as this resonance had occured when she had dispelled their transformation some time before, but Phaethon's lack of conciousness at the time meant this was their first time seeing these memories.[11]

The two talked about the past, before Phaethon returned home to try and discern the truth about the culprit's motives, with Remielle later finding the devestated Phaethon and sheltered them from the rain, escorting them back to her home where they then helped to dry her wings as they confided in one another, with Phaethon revealing both their findings and that Dracaene had attacked them, with Remielle realising it must have been Girtablullu, disguised as Dracaene - the Enchainer larvae, intent on finalizing its transformation, was planning to absorb Dracaene fully and become a full on Enchainer.[12] During this time, Sigrid unwittingly found them at the hideout, having been on orders from the possessed Dracaene to locate them. Sigrid came to coordinate with them to resolve the situation, culminating in her smuggling the pair in to Roswick while wearing Mr. Roar costumes.[13]

They coordinated a plan to take down Girtablullu, with Sigrid creating an opening at the banquet that was being held for the guests arriving from New Eridu. After sharing a dance with Phaethon, Remielle burst on the scene and used her powers to freeze everyone in place and take Dracaene through a Singularity Leakage, far away so Girtablullu could be dispatched, though she paralyzed Phaethon as well, understanding that they had a full life to live, while she had nothing and no one left, removed from time as she was. However, Phaethon broke free of this and pursued her, resolving to defeat the monster together. After a harsh battle, Phaethon, Pyrois and Remielle were victorious, killing Girtablullu and rescuing Dracaene, though Bashmu returned to consume the dead Ethereal and take the Karma Core piece for itself.[14]

While trying to stabilize Dracaene's condition, Remielle's Enchainer transformation began to surface, and as the Airspace Patrol arrived to take Dracaene, Remielle accepted all charges, with her and Sigrid trying to absolve Phaethon of any wrongdoing, but Phaethon resisted, and used their power with Pyrois to escape the scene, where they then angrily confronted her for doing too much on her own. After taking some time to recover from the transformation, she returned to Phaethon, and it was revealed that she had begun cooperating with Airspace Patrol, and was planning to head to Vyrium along with Dracaene, as the Porcelloy there would help stabilize both of their conditions. She also explained how the Sunbringers were effectively living Void Hunter Weapons, though she knew this was a lie that Phaethon would eventually uncover the truth about on their own.[15]

Agent Weapon

Although no official information has been given, it is true that Remielle Dan's Agent Weapon is Thaumiel, which plays a major part in Season 3's story.

Thaumiel has the power to affect the flow of time, and after being partially fused with the Karma Core of her weapon Thaumiel, she gained the ability to reduce Ether activity in both people and monsters to nigh zero, effectively petrifying them. This power manifests as a feather that rests upon those affected, causing them to become pale white in colour. However, holding this power means she is progressing towards becoming an Enchainer, with usage of Thaumiel accelerating her transformation.

Agent Details

Remielle Dan, one of the first-generation Void Hunters, was formerly a Lieutenant Colonel in the Guard of Staves and currently a member of the secret organization known as the Covenant of Dayat.
Records describe her as a prodigy from childhood, capable of rapidly acquiring knowledge and mastering skills in nearly any discipline.
She was selected to join the Guard of Staves at a remarkably young age, was promoted directly to Lieutenant Colonel, and inherited the Void Hunter weapon, "Thaumiel." Fighting alongside Colonel Vike and the leader of the Falkenhayn Mercenary Troupe, she helped drive back the Dark Wall, rose to fame through that decisive battle, and was formally awarded the title of Void Hunter.
During the classified operation later known as the Day of Silence, Remielle and Colonel Vike were both believed to have been killed in action following an unexpected incident. Yet as she's still alive, then the truth must be something else entirely.
Remielle comes and goes without a trace, yet always seems to appear at the most unexpected, pivotal moments, steering events in a new direction.
Around others, Remielle always wears a sweet, effortless smile. Calm under any circumstances and almost disarmingly friendly, she rarely gives people a reason to raise their guard.
She excels at closing the distance with lighthearted banter, yet instinctively maintains just the right amount of distance, making her difficult to read.
Note: Remielle has a habit of playfully teasing those around her. As for you, you seem to receive a particularly generous share of that "special treatment."

During the Day of Silence operation, Remielle and Colonel Vike took part in an experiment proposed by Arche and Sunbringer known as Project Sunseeker.
Project Sunseeker sought to fuse a Void Hunter with the Karma Core sealed within a Void Hunter weapon, artificially creating an Enchainer. Its goal was to eliminate the burden imposed on wielders by Void Hunter weapons, allowing Void Hunters to defend Eridu with even greater power.
The experiment ended in failure, and both Void Hunters were lost. Fortunately, under the influence of Thaumiel's power, Remielle did not fully transform into an Enchainer, instead falling into a slumber that lasted for over a century.
After awakening in the Pursenas Hollow, Remielle found that the era she had known had long since come to an end. She met members of the Covenant of Dayat and chose to join the organization.
However, Remielle's Enchainer transformation did not stop there. Worse still, excessive use of her Void Hunter weapon only accelerates the process.
Once the Corruption reaches its critical threshold, horrifying symptoms of Enchainer transformation begin to appear across her body, and she seems determined to keep anyone from seeing her in such a state.

Trivia

Etymology

  • Ramiel is a fallen angel mentioned in the Book of Enoch. He was one of 19 angels that rebelled against God by creating Nephilim the offspring of angels and human women.
    • רַעַמְאֵל Raʿamʾēl means "God has thundered" in Hebrew.
  • Her real name Remielle is likely derived from Remiel, a separately named holy angel in some versions of Chapter 2 of the Book of Enoch who is often conflated with Ramiel, and who is in turn sometimes conflated with the angel Jeremiel. Remiel is the archangel of hope and credited with two tasks: he is responsible for divine visions, and he guides the souls of the faithful into Heaven.
    • It could also have been derived from "Rémiel," French for Ramiel.
    • The suffix "-elle" is often used to form feminine nouns or adjectives.
  • Her surname Dan likely comes from the Hebrew biblical surname which refers to the Israelite Tribe of Dan.
    • דן Dān means "Judge" in Hebrew.
