The family holds no hereditary claim to military rank; their standing today is owed largely to a longstanding tradition of grooming their children in tactics from an early age. Most of the younger generation see enlisting in the patrol as a natural rite of passage, and to be born a de L'Azur means one must stand as an irreproachable example among their ranks. In combat, the Airspace Patrol Vanguard responds to teammates' commands to perform follow-up attacks.
