Trivia

The Hitchspiker's appearance and parasitic nature might be a reference to the Araña mutation of Las Plagas from Resident Evil 4.
- The way Hitchspikers attach themselves to the backs of Ethereals is a trait specifically shared by the Araña found in the 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4.

Hitchspiker is a portmanteau of "hitchhiker" and "spike."
