Aha
Last updated 2026-09-03
Joy is a right of sentient beings, and Aha inspires THEIR believers to delight in the joys of life. THEY take pleasure in the sharp turns of fate.
Aha is an Aeon in Honkai: Star Rail representing the Path of Elation.
Description
Go seek adversaries worthy of your mettle, games that while away the hours, and outcomes indifferent to victory or defeat.
Go chase laughter that leaves you breathless, twists born of fate's whimsy, and songs that ascend your soul.
Profile
Aha is one of the few Aeons closer to mortals, inspiring THEIR believers to delight in the joys of life. Although THEY don’t possess earth-shattering powers like Lan or Qlipoth, Aha enjoys causing chaos through unpredictable means, making tiny changes and minor influences to living creatures.
History
Ascension Parable
The Masked Fools share a parable about the Aeon: When Aha climbed to the highest branch of the Imaginary Tree, THEY saw the void, the stars operating like machinery, and how meaning bows before nothingness. THEY continued looking until THEY saw a baby fall to the ground and cry. THEY burst into laughter so clear it tore through the universe and still reverberates to this day.[7]
Although the laughter that "tore through the universe" is widely regarded as a metaphor, the Masked Fools maintain that the event was literal and that the Echo of Primordial Laughter is the physical remnant left behind. The anomaly manifests as a spatial rift found within multiple Taverns operated by the Masked Fools throughout the cosmos. It is described as a motionless yet perpetually grinning fissure in reality, whose presence evokes both amusement and unease among those who encounter it. Despite its name, the rift produces no audible echo when shouted into, and objects cast into it vanish without a trace.[8]
At some unknown point in the past, Aha stole the concept of "Aftertaste" from the Path of Voracity, resulting in the rise of the Path of Elation. Subsequently, this also caused the genetic markers responsible for encoding gustatory organs, or taste buds, to vanish from all creations of Voracity, such as Void Song Whales, turning them into biological black holes that consume without discrimination. According to Ruan Mei, the conflict between Aha and Oroboros stretches back to primordial times.[9]
Swarm Disaster
The Masked Fools were drinking in their tavern when a blurred ripple appeared before them in a goblet which read: "Stop drinking, and go assist Aeons!". After three days, they reached the conclusion that it was from Aha, and set out on their journey. Generations passed as they finally realized that Aha was merely deceiving them and laughed at the futility of their actions.[10]
At the end of the Swarm Disaster, Aha, alongside HooH, Qlipoth, Akivili, and Xipe, came together and finally brought Tayzzyronth down and sealed THEM within amber.[11]
At some point during or after the Swarm Disaster, Aha scattered the body of Oroboros across multiple worlds, including Planarcadia and Vonwacq, and suppressed THEIR remains with the power of the Path of Abundance while siphoning the power of the Path of Voracity, calling it a "game." On Planarcadia, this phenomenon is known as the Phantasmoon Games.[9]
Mechanical Wars
As Rubert I fell into a deep slumber and the Machine Empire went to ruin, Aha laughed maniacally at the bleak scenery.[12]
Astral Express
One day, Aha decided to pretend to be a Nameless for an entire year, just to blow half the train up to smithereens.[13]
Unknowable Domain
When Polka Kakamond invaded Simulated Universe: Unknowable Domain, the simulated Aha helped Herta and broke Polka's Knowable Domain.[14]
Planarcadia
Aha is credited with creating the Phantasmoon, the first imagenae on Planarcadia. Through the Phantasmoon, Wishpower is said to flow and manifest via the Path of Elation,[15][16] a phenomenon unique to the world.
Aha is also credited with inspiring the origins of the Phantasmoon Games. According to legend, eight Mourning Actors gathered beneath Panarch Elwood after being drawn by the spectacle of Aha's creation of the Phantasmoon. There, they shared their stories in the hope of earning an audience with Aha. Their collective performance would later be remembered as the first Phantasmoon Games, establishing a tradition that endured long afterward.[17][18]
In Amber Era 2158, after all Supplicants of the Phantasmoon Games had been gathered, Aha, speaking through the Phantasmoon, declared that the winner of this game would inherit the authority of Elation and become the true, permanent Aeon of Elation.[19]
Elation Finality
According to Asat Pramad, the passage of time had left Aha exhausted and gradually consumed by THEIR own endless mirth. He further claims that Aha would ultimately descend into a terrifying extreme, seeking not merely to spread joy but to drag all existence into an eternal, meaningless, and irrational farce of chaos. In this state, Elation's comedy would cease to be entertainment and instead become a universe-wide contamination.[20]
Simulated Universe
When Aha appears in the Simulated Universe, the following sound will play:
Dev Log1
...The Elation, seriously? I don't feel elated when I think about Aha. All I feel is chaos. No other Aeon is as much of a headache as Aha. Aha has no sense of self-consciousness, is utterly unpredictable, does everything on a whim, and plays mortals and the universe like a fiddle. According to poor old Elias Salas' records, Aha once turned a noblesse worm into THEIR Emanator and granted the worm fathomless intelligence, just to see if noblesse worms could enter the Genius Society — The answer was no. For this pointless experiment, the Elation gave the entirety of THEIR Path's power to a worm that doesn't even have a fully developed brain, and then just discarded the creature once it had outlived its purpose. Without the Aeon's blessing, the worm died instantly and tragically. I don't know why Elias Salas recorded this in such great detail. Maybe he was shocked by this...?
Dev Log2
...It'd be one thing if THEY only reveled in toying with mortals. The worst thing about this monster named Aha is that THEY won't even spare other Aeons as long as there's fun to be had. I obtained a large amount of valuable info from the Astral Express' data bank after I got to know the Express crew, including intel on close encounters between many Aeons such as Qlipoth, Terminus, Ena, and Xipe. Unsurprisingly, Aha was also involved in these interactions between Aeons, but in a way that far exceeded my imagination — Aha wanted to trick Akivili and the Nameless, so Aha shapeshifted into a human and laid low on Akivili's Express for more than a year, then finally got the opportunity and blew up half the Express and an entire planet. If I were Akivili, I'd have wanted to kill Aha. Pity I'm not an Aeon, and I can never figure out what THEY were thinking...
Dev Log3
...Aha, no way! THEY are really eager to watch the universe burn — this one is bound to pour more fuel on the fire. Things have taken a turn for the worse since the laughter of the Elation resounded in the universe. How can three Aeons participate in a crusade against the Propagation in the same Amber Era? It's terrifying even to think about. No one knew what Aha had done. After all, the Masked Fools' praises are not to be trusted. The story of that gondola was recorded in the data bank. But come to think of it, how could a mortal possibly influence a god? Seriously, right now, the most important thing is that Screwllum and I are already getting a headache — how can we stop the simulated Aha from reversely affecting the Simulated Universe?

Trivia
- Aha refers to THEMSELF in the third person.
- The Simulated Universe Aha is fully self-aware, and recognizes that THEY are just an "equation in a computer."
- In Chinese, the phrase "What a shame for Aha" in Aha's Data Bank entry and "Aha is embarrassed" in the Aha Stuffed Toy Occurrence is originally 阿哈真没面子 Āhā zhēn méi miànzǐ, "Aha has no face/reputation," a pun on the fact that the obscured human figure has no visible face in Aha's splash art.
- When the simulated Aha entered Simulated Universe: Unknowable Domain and confronted Polka Kakamond, THEY claimed that THEY missed the Trailblazer (as Akivili) so much that THEY lost THEIR head.[14]
- "A Tale from the Morrowen Kingdom" is about how Aha lost THEIR head when confronting a serpent.[21]
- In the Nameless's Memory Bubble, Pom-Pom claimed that Aha is the worst Nameless in the universe because THEY blew up the Astral Express into two pieces.[22]
- In the 2026 official Chinese April Fools video, Aha is found having noodles at a stall to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of Honkai: Star Rail (timestamp 01:58). This is a parody of the Chinese voice line of Phainon in Animated Short "Hark! There's Revelry Atop the Divine Mountain": 「准备好了吗?纳努克!我为你带来毁灭了!」 "Are you ready? Nanook! I brought you destruction!" The pun is on hui mian (Chinese: 烩面 huìmiàn, "stewed noodles") and 毁灭 Huǐmiè, "Destruction". The noodles meme of Phainon and Nanook has become viral in the Chinese community. In the video, the stall is named 烩面馆 huìmiànguǎn, "stewed noodles stall", and the narrator says 「星穹列车,我们为你带来生日面了」 "Astral Express, we brought you the birthday noodles!" followed by the song "Flares of the Blazing Sun."[23][24][25]
Etymology
- Aha's name likely derives from the onomatopoeia of laughter, or may also derive from the sound made when someone makes a revelation.

Change History
- Numerous mentions of Aha in-game had pronouns updated to an all uppercase THEY/THEM.
- Aha was introduced.
- Aha's in-game description was updated.
- Old: It is the unique birthright of an intelligent lifeform to understand the joys of a living being. Rocks and stars cannot understand the humor of life. The search for a formidable adversary, the need for games to pass time, the yearning for an ending where the results don't matter. The lust for laughter with tears, the pursuit of an unfortunate misunderstanding, and the quest for a song that brings life to your body.
- New: The elated one understands that only the wise and sentient possess the privilege of understanding joy. Neither the dusty rocks nor the distant stars can fathom the humor that life entails.
A quest for formidable adversaries in games of strategy and activities to while away the time bears no winners or losers.
Instead, a search for the kind of laughter that leaves one breathless, will lead to the unexpected delights that uplift the soul toward divinity.
- Aha was added.
