OverviewHistory

The following is a rough timeline of historical events that occur on the world of Planarcadia according to the Arcadian Calendar and Amber Era.

Pre-Cindearth Age

  • Ahatopia, a celestial body located in the Consternation Starzone was blessed by Aha, the Aeon of Elation.[1]
  • According to legends, Aha created a living Phantasmoon to serve as a stage for Fools and performers, establishing numerous civilizations including the ancient civilization of Benzaitengoku. Whenever the Phantasmoon waxes full, the Phantasmoon Games held in the name of communing with the Aeon begin as scheduled. The victor shall receive the Aeon's blessing and be granted the divine power of Elation.[1]
  • 2144 AE — Legend claims that when Adrian Spencer Smith won the Phantasmoon Games and became an Aeon for one minute, he wrote the Fables About the Stars.[2]
  • 2145 AE — According to legends, when the winner of the Phantasmoon Games was announced while "The Carefree" was asleep, so Aha went to her apartment to wake her up. Since then, day and night in the World in Canvas have been permanently out of sync.[3]
  • 2146 AE — A massive textual escape occured across the universe, affecting large amounts of technological achievements, historical documents, and information about the Eden of Blessed Insight.[2]
  • 2147 AE — When that year's Phantasmoon Games wrapped up, an entire jelly planet made out of Jelly Fever appeared in Ahatopia.[3]

Cindearth Age

The Cindearth Age starts with the Antimatter Legion invading Ahatopia.[4]

  • 2148 AE — The Anti-Matter Legion invades the Consternation Starzone, and goes for ancient Benzaitengoku.[5]
  • The citizens of Benzaitengoku formed four groups:[6]
    • The "Defectors" who saw no hope in resistance and sided with the Destruction.
    • The "Resisters" who was led by Graphia and wielded imagenesis and constructed imagenae.
    • The "Evacuators" who escapes Benzaitengoku on ships.
    • The "Help-Callers" who asked for the Aeons' aid.

Canvas Age

The Canvas Age starts when Graphia turned the civilization of ancient Benzaitengoku into a painting.

  • 2149 AE — Because the Resisters were losing against the Anti-Matter Legion,[6] With the power from winning the Phantasmoon Games,[7] Graphia concealed Benzaitengoku within her painting, marking the start of the World in Canvas.[8]
    • Due to the isolation from the outside world, nihilism crept in the citizens, and they restarted the Phantasmoon Games to bring joy to Benzaitengoku through the Power of Elation.
  • 2156 AE — Under the behest of Oswaldo Schneider, the Marketing Development Department arrived at Ahatopia, marking the debut of Planarcadia.[9]
    • In the same Amber Era, the winner of the Phantasmoon Games, "Digital Maven," rented out the power of Elation, causing numerous incidents to occur in the span of one minute.[3]
  • With the demonization of "outlanders," the imagenae "Orch" was born, who banded together and formed the Orch Republic.[10]
    • As life in the World of Canvas progressed, the Orch and the other species reconciled their differences and live in harmony.
  • 2157 AE — Every cake in Planarcadia suddenly gained the ability to speak, due to the winner of the Phantasmoon Games.[2]
    • In the same Amber Era, a Doctor of Chaos won the Phantasmoon Games and attempted to create a universe with an afterlife. In Lafcadio and several surrounding star systems, "phantoms of death" from the past crowded every planet, lasting for several hours. It is said that the Isee briefly appeared on Adlivun.[2]
  • Arcadian Calendar Year 1984 — Himeko joins as a Supplicant of that year's Phantasmoon Games.[11]
  • July 22, Arcadian Calendar Year 1984 — The Herald of Death entered Graphia Academy, and murdered 22 students before going to the Dovebrook District, causing a total of 146 deaths. The IPC suppressed the Herald of Death after.[11][12]
  • Arcadian Calendar Year 1985~ — The preceding Phantasmoon Games was won, causing the creation of the mechatrons.[13]
  • Arcadian Calendar Year 1985~ — Himeko repairs the Astral Express, and departs with it.[1][13]

Notes

  1. This conflicts with Himeko's other backstory regarding the Astral Express, in which she states that she witnessed the Express crash on Planarcadia. Given that both the Data Bank and Himeko herself contradict this version of events, and considering the context that after Granholm, the "tale of the Astral Express quietly slipped into obscurity," the account of Himeko seeing the Express crash is less credible.
