The Imaginary Implosion Pulse was a weapon of mass destruction created by Genius Society #79, Calderon Chadwick. After the events of Adventure Mission The Trees At Peace, the weapon came into possession of Genius Society #83, Herta.

History

In early 2156 AE, a representative of the Technology Department of the IPC, Dudley, recruited Chadwick to create a weapon of mass destruction to safeguard against threats such as the Antimatter Legion and the Annihilation Gang. Chadwick worked with a team of researchers to complete the weapon at a classified location.[1]

At some point during the weapon's development, Genius Society #76 Screwllum was invited to observe a detonation test.[1]

The weapon was eventually deployed against the Antimatter Legion when its vanguards threatened IPC trade routes. According to the estimation of IPC's artificial intelligence systems prior to the detonation, the collateral damage included 24 planets, three of which hosted civilizations of Grade D or above. Screwllum later recounted that the detonation killed millions of people and destroyed countless lives.[1]

After the detonation, Chadwick disbanded the team and took crucial data to prevent the weapon from falling into the wrong hands. The IPC released a statement condemning the detonation, conducted an internal review, and removed the higher-ups who ordered it, but continued to pursue the technology. Seeking Chadwick's knowledge, they eventually tracked him down, abducted him, and placed him under house arrest.[1]

Unbeknownst to the IPC, Chadwick previously contacted Screwllum to obtain the Selective Blocking Agent, a drug which suppressed any knowledge related to the Imaginary Implosion Pulse. Unable to extract any useful information from him in life, the IPC used Garden of Recollection technology to preserve his memory and consciousness in a Memory Bubble. The bubble was later kept by The Family on Penacony in a room in The Reverie Hotel, while his consciousness was supervised by the Bloodhound Family in the Dreamscape[1]

With the help of the Trailblazer, Screwllum eventually learned about the bubble and managed to convince The Family to transfer it to the Herta Space Station. There, in the Seclusion Zone, he and Herta put his consciousness to rest. Before fading away, Chadwick entrusted all his knowledge on imaginary theory and application, including the Imaginary Implosion Pulse, to Herta, in hopes of establishing a deterrence system to counterbalance the IPC.[1]

Herta later described herself as the "keyholder of the Imaginary Implosion Pulse."[2] After the battle with Irontomb, she has looked into advancing the practical applications of the technology.[3]
