Lightning-Lord

The Lightning-Lord (Chinese: 神君), full name Lightning-Wielding Thunder-Clapping Spirit-Squashing Lord (Chinese: 神霄雷府总司驱雷掣电追魔扫秽天君),^[1] is the Spiritus granted by Lan to the Arbiter-General of the Xianzhou Luofu. Currently Jing Yuan commands the Lightning-Lord, and it was previously wielded by Teng Xiao.^[2][3]

Overview

Lightning-Lord has been shown to be quite formidable. With its previous wielder Teng Xiao, it defeated Ignamar, a powerful Heliobus.^[4] When fighting the Borisin, he was described as enveloped in golden lightning like the avatar of the Reignbow, plowing through the enemies' rows of war beasts with his divine mirage.^[5] Teng Xiao was also seen using Lightning-Lord to battle Shuhu, an Emanator of Abundance, during the fall of the Xianzhou Cangcheng.^[6]

The newly appointed General Jing Yuan later summoned Lightning-Lord to defeat Jingliu, the mara-struck Sword Champion of the Luofu, forcing her to retreat.^[7] During the Stellaron Crisis, with the assistance of Dan Heng and the Astral Express Crew, Jing Yuan used Lightning-Lord to destroy the Lord Ravager Phantylia's body that was created from the Ambrosial Arbor.^[8] In the aftermath of the crisis, Lightning-Lord was summoned to intimidate Cirrus, a powerful fragment of Ignamar who had escaped containment, into surrendering.^[9]

• In an alternate possibility foreseen by Elio where the Astral Express went to Melustanin instead of Amphoreus, the Xianzhou Alliance would have strayed from the Trailblaze and met its destined end. With the ascension of the eighth Lord Ravager through Jingliu and the Lightning-Lord, they would wage war against Yaoshi, their wings signaling the prelude to a divine war.^[10]

Etymology

• 神君 shénjūn, "deity lord" is a common title for deities in Taoism. The Lightning-Lord's full name is also in the style of Taoism deities.
• 神霄雷府总司驱雷掣电追魔扫秽天君 literally translates to "Heavenly lord of the lightning deity department, who commands lightning and electricity to chase away the demons and sweep away the filth."
