Imagenesis

Those who wield this art are known as artists. All imagenesis activities on the planet are strictly regulated by the Council.
Imagenesis is the art of creating imagenae through the use of Wishpower. Those who practice imagenesis are called Imagenists.[1] They are mainly trained at Graphia Academy.[2]
Description
Sculpt "matter" from "wishes," and a new life is imagenated into being: From the trembling of the first biological macromolecule to the bellowing of industrial-scale synthesized life clusters, artificial life ceased to be a problem long before the First Great Prosperity. Yet the art of imagenesis in Planarcadia has left an open question mark on the very frontier of life sciences.
If you're a first-time visitor to Planarcadia, prepare to have your mind blown. It feels like a story come to life, where wispae bounce around, mechatrons march by, and thundercoils coil atop sky-high towers. Here, on soil blessed by the Elation, the collective consciousness of joy, sorrow, folklore, pop culture, and all our deepest fears and desires congeals into "Wishpower," giving birth to creations known as "imagenae."
If you're surprised enough, it might even manifest as an imagenae to greet you. Will it be a Sneezebug, a Funhouse Mirror, or a Nosewalker? Who knows!
Throughout its long history, a social system coexisting with imagenesis was established in Planarcadia, giving rise to the profession of "artists," those who use their brushes to give form to the imagenae and specialize in creation. Artists trace the art of imagenesis back to the artist "Graphia," but the history of imagenesis itself stretches back much further. As far back as the era when Aha raised Phantasmoon over Ahatopia, the earliest imagenated lifeforms wandered the lands touched by its moonlight.
Unlike genetic editing or inorganic algorithms, imagenesis is akin to Yaoshi sprinkling mud with willow branches to create life out of thin air, a phenomenon that leaves countless scholars baffled. The Intelligentsia Guild chalks it up as "a localized anomaly caused by the Path energy of Elation," but the residents of Planarcadia prefer a more down-to-earth explanation: Planarcadia has long learned to coexist with fantasy. In other words, this was a city built on stories from the very beginning.Overview
Imagenesis was a natural process that happened during the waxing of the Phantasmoon, where the Phantasmoon would trigger humanity's Wishpower, suppliying energy from the Elation to nearby substances, creating conditions for imagenae to come alive, however they lacked intelligence.[3]
Graphia, using the basis of art, managed to invent imagenetic technology, which allows the designing of more complex and intelligent imagenae.[3]
There is a type of imagenesis named Spirit Painting, where artists directly imbue their paints with Wishpower or dip their brushes into Wishpower.[4]
Steps
There are steps to imagenesis:[4]
- Funnelling the volume of wishpower towards the substance.
- Invoking to conceptualize the desired imagenae.
- Shaping the imagenae, determining their temperament and initial impressions on others.
- Imbuing wishpower to complete the imagenae, relying on emotional intuition. However, this step can be skipped if the artist uses Spirit Painting. However, Post-Imbuement can compensate for the risks of Spirit Painting.
- Feeding the imagenae.
Techniques
When shaping the imagenae, there are two Techniques:[4]
- Classical Techniques, such as oil painting or Xianzhou ink-wash styles. This Technique creates more human-like imagenae and those that can achieve self-perpetuation.
- Orchs and Lightpaws are classified as imagenae created with Classical Techniques.
- Modern Techniques, such as abstract and conceptual art. This Technique is used for creating imagenae with high practical utility, although they cannot maintain their physical forms for long periods of time.
- Objects and rooms can become imagenae through Modern Techniques.
History
Graphia invented imagenetic technology during the Cindearth Age, and taught the Resisters the art. They fought against the Antimatter Legion with the first complex imagenae.[5]
During the Worlds Reborn Initiative, aether editing technology from Punklorde and imagenetic technology managed to develop each other greatly, leading to the birth of Aether Spirits.[6]
With the Faekind Protection Act, imagenae created from imagenesis are now given the same rights as a human.[1] Additionally, with the Imagenist Management Regulations, the art of imagenesis is now regulated by the Interastral Peace Corporation.
Trivia
- Imagenesis is a portmanteau of the words "image" and "genesis."
- 幻造 Genzou means "illusion creation." It is homophonous to the word 幻想 Gensou, meaning "fantasy."
