Theory of Four Apocalypses

The Theory of Four Apocalypses is a prophecy made by Terminus, and circulated among the Omen Vanguards.^[2]

Whenever one of the Four Apocalypses has began to unfold, Terminus shall ascend.^[3]

Description

A prophecy circulates among the Omen Vanguards known as the "Theory of Four Apocalypses": that four Paths will push the cosmos toward the ending of "Finality." When Genius Society #83, Herta, had her third audience with Nous, the Aeon's extrapolation turned the theory from a seemingly baseless rumor into a fact that could not be ignored.

The first three possibilities are certain: the "Destruction," the "Nihility," and the "Harmony." The fourth Path, however, remains vacant... or has simply yet to manifest.

Even Nous cannot calculate the next turning point of the universe's destiny. Though the future remains uncertain, the Astral Express must be ready.

Overview

According to the prophecy of the Theory of Four Apocalypses, muttered by Terminus in THEIR sleep and scattered by the Omen Vanguard, four Paths will bring the cosmos to its end. The first three possibilities are certain: the "Destruction," the "Nihility," and the "Harmony."^[1][4] According to Lygus, both Polka Kakamond and Dr. Primitive foresaw this outcome and took action accordingly. Polka established the mysterious Device IX, while Dr. Primitive "chose the wrong allies" and ultimately failed.^[4]

According to Elio's script, the Trailblazer will encounter each of the Paths one by one throughout their journey.^[2]

After the events of Trailblaze Mission chapter Memories are the Prelude to Dreams, The Dahlia restored the Trailblazer's cremated memories of Penacony's true events, causing the Theory of Four Apocalypses to begin converging toward the "Destruction." According to Elio's script, the cosmos will join hands to overcome that annihilation.^[5]

Fourth Path

According to the Theory of Four Apocalypses, four Paths will bring the cosmos to its end. However, the fourth possibility remains vacant and cannot even be calculated by Nous, the Aeon of Erudition, leaving its outcome uncertain.^[6] However, in an alternate timeline or a future yet to come, the following Paths have occupied the fourth possibility:

Path	Description of Finality
Remembrance	There was a possibility that the Remembrance could have become the fourth Path, depending on the Trailblazer's choice. In this outcome, Cyrene, a Pure Children of Anāsrava, would freeze the cosmos in eternal stasis, leaving only herself and the Trailblazer alive in all of existence. At the end of time, Cyrene would ascend as Fuli and snuff out the "Destruction" entirely, preserving the cosmos in everlasting stasis.[7][8]
Elation	Asat Pramad believes that the passage of time had left Aha exhausted and gradually consumed by THEIR own endless mirth. Acording to him, Aha would ultimately descend into a terrifying extreme, seeking not merely to spread joy but to drag all existence into an eternal, meaningless, and irrational farce of chaos. In this state, Elation's comedy would cease to be entertainment and instead become a universe-wide contamination.[9]
Trailblaze	According to Asat Pramad, had Akivili continued on THEIR journey, THEY would have shattered the Paths, rendering the cosmos unknowable and incalculable. Every direction would be forward, with no end in sight. Time would continue to flow, yet nothing would ever happen. Space would stretch on endlessly, yet there would be nowhere to go, and even existence itself would defy all logic.[9]
