Zatzkas are sapient birdlike humanoids native to Astropolis.[1]
Overview
Most Zatzkas look like giant humanoid owls with talons for hands. And like owls, they can turn their heads 270°. The color of their feathers varies from Zatzka to Zatzka but the most common colors are white, brown or tan with darker colors on the tips of the feathers on their arms. Most of them have yellow eyes with black irises, and black beaks.
Zatzkas seem to be a highly evolved form of birds, as some Zatzkas who were caught up in Dr. Primitive's atavistic experiment regressed into birds.[2]
Boiled millet with berries is a staple dish for the Zatzka.[3]
The Interastral Peace Entertainment at Astropolis has many Zatzka employees.
According to Owlbert, Zatzkas are excellent warriors by nature. Their feathers can deflect blades and bullets, and their talons can smash bricks and stone. Before joining the interstellar market, Zatzka society was built on the rule of the strong. To burn off all their excess energy, they hold an annual "Zatzka Brawl Tournament", similar to humankind's boxing matches. To this day, it remains one of the hottest events in all of Astropolis.[4]
According to Bonton, most Zatzka are warm and hospitable by nature. Their vivid plumage and sharp eyes seem to grant them a deeper sense of perception and sensibility, as well as a deep longing for the sky, even though they can't fly. Because of that, most Zatzka end up making their mark in art and exploration.[1]
