A few days ago, on my way back from patrol, I overheard Madam Faruzan tell Master Tighnari that she's gonna throw me a surprise birthday party — the grander the better... Master agreed and even wanted to invite Cyno over! I guess I'd be okay around familiar faces, but what if they've invited someone I don't know... What's more, how do I act surprised when I already know about the surprise party? Master and Madam Faruzan must've done a lot, and I don't want to ruin the mood. Will you come to my birthday party? Could you give me some advice... or back me up in case my mind goes blank? It really means a lot to me! Please, I need your help! I usually ask Master Tighnari to check my letters for speling errors, but I'm on my own this time. I'm doing... okay, right? | |

The storybook that Amber sent me arrived early! It got here yesterday evening, so I stayed up all night to finish reading it! The plot was simple enough and easy to understand, and there wasn't any new vocabulary either. The main character, Mr. Fox, has big ears and a long tail, and he lives in a huge forest far, far away. It's a series of funny stories about him and his friends. I have to admit that I could practically see Master Tighnari as the protagonist! Or would have, if Mr. Fox wasn't such a sly character who lies at the drop of the hat... I'm not sure how well I hid it when I saw him this morning... Oh, look how much I've written already! I've gotten a little carried away... The thing I want to say is... thanks to everyone's help, I've gradually been getting better and better, and I'm starting to feel like I've made a lot of progress! So, I guess I want to share my gratitude with you, too! | |

The Akademiya's going to hold a mini-seminar on plant recognition pretty soon... and Master Tighnari wants me to help the juniors with their homework. I've seen plenty of plants during my patrols with him, and I've learned to read a lot more words lately, but still... I'm not sure I can do it. If I mess up in front of everyone, I don't think there's a tree hollow big enough in all of Sumeru for me to crawl into... Ahh! No, no! Helping people out is a good thing, and I should be getting ready instead of worrying about it! Right then! I'll gather all my old notes and take a walk through the rainforest to refresh my memory on the plants that are commonly seen. If you don't mind, could you accompany me? Since you're so knowledgeable, you might ask me questions I've never even considered! That way, I can perfect my notes! As for snacks — don't worry, I've got us covered! | |

I hope this letter finds you well... Master said that's a more proper way to start a letter. As for what's changed recently... um, I don't think much has. I still go on patrol with everyone like usual, and I'm still working hard on my studies at the Akademiya. Oh! Actually, I can finally start keeping a diary now! That counts as a change, right? The thing is, when I sit down and try to think of something worth writing about, nothing really special comes to mind... Sumeru has been really peaceful lately. The wind in the forest, the smell of herbs, the animals I run into along the patrol route, the parts of my books that I'm starting to understand, little by little... They're all just normal, everyday things. Nothing out of the ordinary. But they make me happy. Sometimes, I even catch myself thinking maybe all those bad days from before were just a nightmare. The back of my neck hasn't hurt in years now. So, um, I hope these peaceful days can keep going for a long, long time. | |
