I hope my suddenly sending you a letter like this doesn't disturb you, Captain Honorary Knight. Today is my birthday, and in the words of the surveyor corps, I've reached another milestone in life. The officers often say, "As the years of service pass, knights must surpass their selves of years past." I've received a lot of positive feedback from my superiors recently, so I believe I've fulfilled that requirement. Though thinking back carefully, the reason I've been receiving so much recognition is entirely due to your guidance and encouragement. Thank you for all the help you've given me lately! It's a pity that I can't invite you to celebrate together as I'm on field duty lately. So, I've prepared two of my signature dishes. I would be really glad if they're to your liking. When I'm back in Mondstadt, I'd be sure to thank you in person!

During the expedition, resources were limited, so the Grand Master would choose one day each month to hold a "group birthday." It was called a "birthday," but there were no presents or cake. Rather, it was more like finding an excuse to have a meal together... Sometimes we even had to forage for food on the spot. But I really enjoyed those birthdays, because I didn't have to be the center of attention. Instead, I could share the joy of growing up as part of a group with my comrades. However, the Reconnaissance Company seems to have a completely opposite tradition. Captain Eula hopes we can all bravely showcase ourselves, which is more than a bit difficult for me... Captain Honorary Knight, may I ask you to join my birthday party? I'd like to chat about the scenery I've recently documented and have you try my new recipes for field rations... With you there, I might feel less nervous!

Do you plan to head to Dragonspine in the near future? Recently, while surveying a new route there, I found out the cliff marking on the old map is a whole five steps off from the actual location! Thank goodness I found it quickly. I've redrawn the map with precision and marked down the newly added safe detours with green ink. I know you're a skilled mountaineer, but that particular area has plenty of fissures concealed by ice, so please take extra caution! I'm sending the revised map and a Frostshield Potion with this letter. I hope they will... help save some trouble for you in the snow and storm. And that concludes the main content of my report to the Honorary Knight! As for the rest... If you're not particularly busy today... Please grant me the permission to explain the new markings on the map in person!
| Protecting Your Gear From the Cold... | |

I heard some time ago that our esteemed Honorary Knight planned to travel across all seven nations. By now, you must be getting close to Snezhnaya, am I right? All the Mondstadters who've been to Snezhnaya say the cold there is quite different from what we experience at Dragonspine... So please, make sure you're well prepared for that. In prolonged dry cold, the properties of metal components can change, and your equipment may give out before you do. Fortunately, there's a way around that: applying a thin, even coat of Flaming Essential Oil can help mitigate the effects of extreme cold on swords and other weapons, and thus prevent them from becoming brittle. Doing this with leather goods can also keep the leather supple so that they won't snap the moment you pull on them. I hope this little tip comes in handy, especially since the gear you're using must be quite valuable, and will so need extra care and attention... Also, the Grand Master mentioned that we have plans to send a few knights on a study visit to Snezhnaya soon, and I'm on the list. Who knows, maybe we'll see each other again in Snezhnaya?

| Oh... H—Hello, are you here for an adventure? What a fine day! The finches seem quite lively as well... The height here... and the terrain... Alright, I've finally finished surveying this area. I'll make a copy for you too. I've marked down hilichurl camps and rich ore reserves to save you some trouble while you're out exploring the wilderness... N—No problem! I'm just glad I could be of some help! | |
| The meal's ready— P—Please come and eat, everyone! Ahem, this time I tried a new cake recipe and added some Wolfhooks I picked while surveying the wilderness. It should taste pretty good... Oh! I also made some drinks from different kinds of fruit. I hope you enjoy them. ...What I'm trying to say is, thank you all for coming to celebrate my birthday. Uh, what next... What did the Traveler teach me to say back then...? | |
| I didn't expect you to come surveying with me... The sunlight's a bit harsh today, so wearing a hat will help protect your eyes while recording data. If it gets too sunny for you, feel free to wait under the shade over there. Ah, don't worry about me. During field surveys, a surveyor must prioritize safety before terrain documentation. It's a responsibility I must take seriously, for myself and for my companions. So rest assured, I won't push myself too hard! | |
| Curious about what else I do out in the field besides surveying? Hmm... Sometimes I play a few little games to pass the time. For example, I like making paper airplanes. Watching them take off alongside the birds almost makes it seem like they're having a race... How about we have a little competition too, and see whose paper airplane can fly farther? They may look simple, but the way you fold a paper airplane can actually affect how far it flies! Here, let me give you a demonstration... |

| "Here's a gift for the Reconnaissance Company's most outstanding Surveyor! Happy Birthday, Mika!" "Take it Mika, don't be shy." "Th—Thank you, all of you!" | |
| "The captain didn't assign me any tasks today, but... I can always practice my mapping skills... I can't let everyone down." | |
| "A—Ah, sorry! I was a little too forceful..." "It's fine! Phew... You've grown into such a reliable young man, Mika." |
