Sigh. Another year has passed, but I've not made any meaningful progress. It's been all too quiet lately, and there have not been any spirits to be exorcised. I've made several outings to search for lurking fiends, but each time I return empty-handed... Now, of course I do not wish for evil spirits to turn the world upside down! It's just that... I can train day after day, but if I don't experience true combat... The thought of this has sparked a deep resentment that feels like a roaring and suffocating fire. Then, in a moment of weakness, I indulged in a few more popsicles, so much so that Xingqiu even teased me by saying that I had, at least, mastered the art of making popsicles! Hmph, since he said that, I figured I might as well make more. I've been experimenting with all sorts of flavors, and you are welcome to come try them if you're interested. Please, do pardon me for saying exactly how I feel. I must keep to my birthday vow no matter what, and continue to patrol the land with my blade in hand! Another birthday has come around. I wonder whether it is as Xingqiu says: "Only with age does one come to know the taste of sorrow." And yet, after eating the pastries prepared this morning to celebrate my birthday, I found myself feeling somewhat at a loss. As I grow older, I suppose the time has come for me to shoulder greater responsibility. But when I think on it again... I have yet to make any real sense of my "yang energy," and my progress in the practice of mystic arts has hardly been ideal. At the thought of all this, I must admit...
