Thanks to those idiots from the Arataki Gang, I spent yet another "unexpected" birthday, and just finished taking care of the trouble they caused.

It's been so long, but they still haven't learned anything...

Never mind, let's just say this is why I can't just abandon them.

I still remember all the help you gave me, and I'd like to thank you in person to show my sincere gratitude.

We've got a tricky situation on our hands, today's my birthday... Oh, sorry, I'm not trying to say birthdays are tricky!

I had originally planned just to have a simple birthday... but Genta and Akira came up with the idea of the entire Arataki Gang going to Watatsumi Island for a day trip to celebrate. Of course, when the boss heard, he was even more ecstatic...

But I know that the Arataki Gang has no camping equipment whatsoever and is completely unfamiliar with Watatsumi Island. If we just head on over, who knows what kind of trouble we'll get ourselves into... So, I'd like to ask the trustworthy and dependable you to go with us.

Though the boys can certainly get a bit rowdy, they're first-class when it comes to cheering someone up and providing entertainment. So come with us, if you're there, this'll be a trip to remember.

Ugh... Boss and the others have really taken things a step too far recently, trying to turn everything into a big event. A few days ago, I caught wind that they've been secretly setting up a stage for my birthday...

Thankfully, to make it a surprise, they've tried to keep the whole thing a secret from me. And based on how the Arataki Gang's last few events have gone down... Well, let's just say that without me or you helping them out, the most likely outcome is that it'll all come to nothing...

All in all, what it means is this — for once, I won't have to spend my birthday desperately trying to clean up their mess, and that this year, I'll finally get a chance to let my I hair down.

So instead, how about this? We find a spot, somewhere out there in the wild, where we can just sit and take in the scenery, with the wind in our faces... and I can enjoy my birthday in peace and quiet.

I'll head over to scout out the area and check for any monster threats first. If it's not too much trouble, I look forward to seeing you there.

Today, I received a small package from home — some pouches and charms made from Naku Weed. They're nothing fancy, but when I held them... the feeling was different. Since I left home, this is the first time my family's sent anything without scolding or asking me to come back. Just simple well wishes for my safety and success.

The differences we once argued over, the rules that once bound me... have quietly softened into gentle concern.

Of course, support doesn't make the work any easier. The commissions still pile up, and the exams haven't gotten any less brutal. But now, there's a little more strength in me to keep pushing forward. Maybe that's what they call positive psychological suggestion.

I took a few of the Naku Weeds they sent and made them into a light, simple bracelet — a small blessing from home. If you ever feel stuck or unsure where to go next... I hope it can bring you a little strength, too.

In previous years, the boss and the others always kept their "surprise" preparations from me. This time, though, they asked me to review the celebration plans and their request for funding in advance. They said it was because they wanted to invite you to join us.

I checked the schedule and shopping list item by item. Surprisingly, everything was reasonable and properly arranged... Maybe Ushi kept an eye on the planning?

There is still one potential problem. They left the final item on the schedule as a "surprise," and no matter what I said, they refused to show me the details. Not that I particularly want to think about what they might be planning this time... But I do know the boss and the others genuinely want to make you feel welcome. Whatever they can do, they'll do their best.
